Can you root the newest update (FRG22D). Sry new at this

Yup, I second Lock-N-Load's mention, that's how I did it. My original Moto Droid was running stock Froyo FRG22D and I rooted yesterday. I'm good at following instructions, but I was having issues and making real slow head way following the root guide for some reason. After a few hours I decided to give RDKamikaze's new contraption a shot and it worked great. He's really on it and has updated several times already. I used an older version and had root within a few minutes. Now I just need to figure out what to do with this root:D

i tried that one step- root. and it didn't work. It did a bunch of stuff, then at the end it says " if there was an error, then press any key" when i did this it closes out the window.

use the one above

Rooting the Droid without rsd lite up to and including FRG22D

it WILL work

Sort of related, if I was rooted before how do I apply the latest update, it errors out.

use this update http://android.clients.google.com/packages/ota/verizon_voles/a5e329b00288.signed-voles-ota-50454.zip

Directions for forcing it can be found http://androidforums.com/motorola-d...update-motrola-droid-frg22d-update-2-2-a.html

Just make sure you use the file I linked in this post and not the one in that thread.

Edit: this will make you lose root. If you wanna keep root just flash this rom http://androidoverdrive.com/pete/OEM/FRG22D-ODEXED.zip

just curious why you selected the odexed version to post here? wondering what you though was and why you posted that and not deodexed?

No real reason other than odexed is closer to stock. And if he was on odexed before and goes to deodexed he would have to wipe data(In most cases)

interesting.. any method to tell, post root, which one you installed? I can't recall what FRG01B I did of Pete's to be honest.

use root explorer (or another file manager) and browse you /system/app folder and see if there are .odex files there.
