You're right. I miss 2.3.9 as well. p3droid is a fraud btw.

gonna go back to 2.3.9. all this p3droid stuff 'team black hat' etc, is just a guy who wants to make money off these 'purported' leaks.

Yes, but the ironic part is when you go to install beesly's build.prop again. go and look at the version it says now. it reverts it back to 2.3.9 or shows it's true colors like what everybody is saying here.
 
I am not really a fan of all this dev bashing. The app in the market is for the delivery of current and future software. Some of it might be leaks, some of it will be developed by the team. I personally went back to 2.3.9 because PC mode was giving me trouble in .13 and .15. That said, I will gladly try any software released by our great community devs. If you don't want to pay $2 for the app, DONT.

Also, just because it is possible to alter the Build.prop to change the version, doesn't mean that is what happened in this case. I will give the devs the benifit of the doubt. $2 is not much to ask for all the work these guys put in. IMHO.

this is p3droid,

one, thanks to all who have dloaded and as a result donated to the team. I/we understand that some do not wish to nor like the idea of paying for this app. I/we appreciate your sentiments. But without those donations we would not be in a position to bring you leaks, or even have the potential of an unlocked bootloader.

Things worth having sometimes cost money, including information and the access to information. Tbh, which includes birdman and others, is attempting to bring things to the masses, that is not just limited to the x, but has a much greater vision involving future devices as well.

On a personal note, there have been many things done for the community with the idea of openess and helping everyone enjoy their device to an extent that surpasses what they have out of the box. This app allows us to bring even more enjoyment and usability to the masses and also helps us get future items as well.

For those who support us, we thank you. For those who don't, i get that as well.

(Fromp3droid): i can not go into how they come at a cost, but as the costs have increased a means to cover those cost arose. I don't want you to think the decision came easily nor quickly. By no means are we going to be charging for leaked roms, the app is a means to deliver quick and easy access to the information prior to it hitting main street. You will still see normalized leaks (i.e. Mydriodworld.com) but some manner to deliver the content was needed for obvious reasons, we just see this as a way to provide a new stream to disseminate information.

Actually when you install the build.prop it is still 2.3.15 it just says 2.3.9 because it is an old build.prop, and there is a line in the build.prop that determines what it says in the about phone section. Whether there is a difference between 2.3.9 and 2.3.15 is for you to decide, but just cause you install the build.prop doesn't mean it is showing its "true colors", you may have interpreted what we are saying incorrectly.

"true colors" wasn't meant to state that it was litteral. I was stating it cause of what i read in my about phone, and based off of what the thread was saying at the moment.

but i know when i installed the build.prop in the last leak, it stayed at 2.3.9 and it didn't go back to previous version. not sure what this leak does different and/or build.prop does to make it say 2.3.9
 
the build.prop determines what it says, no matter what version of froyo I am running if I install a build.prop that is from a different version, it is going to say that version. So if you are running 2.3.15 and install a 2.3.9 build.prop it is going to say 2.3.9. Also like LexusBrian has shown us is that you can change it to say anything you want...

I must say that this site and the members here are very disappointing. The more that I encounter members like you the more I think that you should receive NOTHING. Thankfully there are many members who remind me that the vast majority of users are not juvenile delinquents with a phone.

If you don't want to pay for the app, DON'T, but how many of you have donated a dime? Although no one entered this looking to make a buck, and we don't make a single dime, and have yet to cover the costs associated with our activities. I find your bickering, sneering, and distasteful remarks about me and the team troublesome.

Be very happy that some of you have the common sense and decency to stand up to the others.

Bottom line, I like working on behalf of the community. The people I work with enjoy working on behalf of the android community. But every time someone else has something that you don't you complain to the heavens. Check the record if need be.

D13 as a team member of this forum I truly expected more of you, you should have reported the posts and not fanned the flames, to the others I just remain disappointed in you all.

You have brought shame on this forum for your behavior, and thankfully a mod stepped in to delete the posts, as I find it very funny that you think I have some blanket power to remove posts from forums around the internet.

I will enjoy the rest of my day, and look forward to releasing fun and interesting things in the future that I do not doubt all of you will consume and enjoy, even while you complain. I even notice quite a few of you are using an X running froyo, how did that come to be?

I don't think all that is fair to say; I believe that this is just the nature of humanity....

From what I can compile in my brain, this whole thing HAS been blown out of proportion, but I believe it is due to lack of communication..ON THE DEVELOPERS SIDE.

I say this because if it were black and white, stating you don't have to pay, then I am sure this thread would not end up the way it did...

Maybe we can all learn a lesson here.....

Yes I know my action was not appropriate and I should have stepped in earlier. I have already talked to mods about this and must say to everyone that I am truly sorry about the way I handled the situation. I hope that you can accept this sincere apology.I really do understand why you must charge for an app like this as I have bought it and are running the new froyo. I have always respected you as a dev and your kernels were my favorite to run on the Droid 1 and I really look forward to your future work. So like I said I understand what I did was wrong and I look forward to being a better guide in the future and learning from my mistakes. I hope that you see this, and if you don't I plan on contacting you personally. Again, I am sorry for this whole situation and hope you can forgive me

For those who follow my tweets I said from the beginning that this is not the sole means of distribution. Not sure what more you want, some things are left unsaid so that Big Brother M, doesn't catch it. Either way, people need to restrain themselves. I will not take the blame for what is being said by others about me or TBH, that reversal of guilt will not fly.

All in all, i've been greatly disappointed in my fellow droiders over the past 2 days.

Gosh, I have held off for sooooo long on not getting a twitter account because it is goofy...

I think my love for Android is going to make me hop on the wagon though...
 
I just wanted to throw in my 2 cents here. P3, first of all everyone here appreciates your immense contributions to the Droid X community. In particular, the original 2.2 leak that I'm rocking right now and has made my DX a joy to use. The latest stuff has been of questionable use, however, and I'm sure you're aware of the problems that others have had even getting it running. Please don't take that personally though. An "artist" should listen to the fans or else you're just another George Lucas and no one wants another Lucas. Also, people freaked about the charging thing and I was definitely part of that. I don't know the cash outlays involved in bringing the leaks, so I shouldn't complain since I do enjoy what comes out. Anyway, just my thoughts on the matter and thanks for your work.
 
My guess is that P3 might have to pay his source, or his source is demanding more money. I haven't donated, and I guess I won't be upgrading, especially without knowing the differences between 2.3.13 and 2.3.15? If 2.3.15 had a change log I'd be much more inclined to pay the $2 (hint! ) Maybe I'm cheap, but without understanding the differences it's not worth it to me. My phone has 90% battery left after 8 hours and some light use, I'm very happy with the way it is already!

Is the Clock application's weather fixed? What about the cropping of images using the gallery? With the current bugs in 2.3.13 I can see why there is no OTA yet.
