OTA Update Starting today?

Everything I have read it the Droid isn't capable of such a thing. There is no option anywhere I have found for transferring a phone book. I have a brand new Sony stereo and the firmware is updated, I already verified

I actually just did this today. I wouldve taken a screenshot if I'd thought there was an issue about it being possible or not.

I iniated the transfer from the headunit and got a notification that I had to click on that said something like uconnect has requested access to phonebook, Allow?

once I clicked yes or allow (don't remember which) I could see it downloading from my radio but there were no other indicators that it worked on the phone. All my contacts are in the car nnow tho, so it obviously did. :D

Okay! You have seen the unlock screen. Here is a picture of my droid with some of the widgets for you! These are the system widgets, not downloaded add-ons.

So only the color of power control is changed......

Nothing else to really add to the power bar. Looks great in black though, would be awesome if they made all of the standard widgets/notification tray black too.

What's the "Recently..." widget? I don't remember that one. I like what they've done to the power bar widget - larger icons and much cleaner, more sophisticated look...

The little media player on top (with the collective soul) is different. These are the only widgets I used previously so I dont know if the rest have changes. The "Previous" is a shortcut. It plays the most recently added songs with one click.

Where did you find anything about transferring the address book? I cannot find it anywhere in setting or in contacts. Where did you find this option?

It isn't on the phone, you have to initiate the transfer from the radio. You will get a popup confirmation on the Droid to allow the transfer.

If this is indeed the "December 11th" update, then what's up with all the other updates that were noted in those "leaked Verizon documents", such as Exchange, etc?

Maybe those other bigger updates will release in the January 2.1 update?

NY - Still no update.

Can't tell you how I got my address book to transfer but after many many unsuccessful attempts it finally took...Usually when I selected transfer phone book "yes" the bluetooth indicator on the headunit would turn off and it would say transfer error.

could hear a subtle click through the speakers as it disconnected. Not willing to unpair and try again though, leaving well enough alone.

Upstate NY and no update yet!!!!

Based on the article above the second batch will go out at midnight.

Midnight PST or EST?! :D

Very childish, but I'll be staying up late tonight in hopes that I'm one of the "early adopters" at midnight... Upgrade fever has got me bad...

"Honey, you go ahead and go to bed, I have a ton of work to catch up on..."

;)

OK I updated my initial post with the following information:

OTA Release Schedule
More Screen shots

Verizon releases OTA update for the Motorola Droid - JefTek.com

BTW - I think it's very smart for them to phase this roll out the way they did. Imagine if they did release the update to all, and a major issue was identified. This way they can roll it out in larger groups over time, allowing a smoother transition.

We may have to wait longer, but in the end it's better for us.

But...If someone is smart enough to grab the update.zip, I'll be the first to try updating manually :)

How's that working out for you?? I went from the first gen iPhone to an Att Tilt, to the Droid, so I kinda took a step backwards.

Hmmm, I had a tilt2, piece of crap. Great fanboi exclamations at first, but it's a bulky phone and doesn't do 1/2 of the droid.

Thanks for playing, how is your droid update going?

This may have already been posted in this thread, sorry havent read every post...

Supposedly they sent out 1000 updates at 12 noon today, will send 9000 more tonight at 12 midnight, after that everyone needs to wait til Dec. 11, when everyone who hasnt gotten their update yet will receive it by midnight that night.

oh....Georgia, still no update...

Well, according to the mentioned article, only 10% of the updates for this stage have been given out. The remaining 90% will probably bring more luck for the rest of us.

Already posted :) Several times, maybe on the last page!

It's the BGR of the VZ call they did, I commented that on 200k a day, it will take at least 4 days to update all the droids in the wild, but that's old news.

It will probably take up to 5 days with recent purchases. It's amazing how many droids are out there!
