Root [ROM] rubiX Focused 0.3 by drod2169

Formatting data just removes apps and user settings.

If you have some apps installed on your SD card using Froyo's apps2sd feature, it'll delete those (I'm pretty sure)

Okay, thanks, just wanted to make sure as I have (obviously) the zip for this rom and a few other things I do not want to lose on my SD card.

I did this without any problems. I really like this ROM. The first thing I did was restore data through bootstrap. It runs faster than the R2D2 ROM I was using and uses no blur apps. I still see blur in system/apps. I am guessing there is no way around that until we get access to the bootloader, correct?

I noticed there is no "files" app. Good thing I have root explorer.

I got this installed this morning (5 hours ago) without any problems at all. After the install I changed the boot animation and applied the 928Droid BGX theme. So far it has been running flawlessly and seems to be very quick and responsive so far.

can you install this on top of flyx? i know tranquility you can and this is tranquility-based.... also, can we get some comparisons/impressions compared to flyx? thanks

Not exactly ringing endorsements! I would like to see a screenshot of this, if anyone has it. It seems to me as if you'd want to show screenshots of your stuff if you wanted people to try it, no? I couldn't find any on the droidx site.

As long as you are on a 2.2 deodexed build(leak or OTA) you are ready to go.

Faster, market is quick and everything installs, just running like you would hope Froyo on your DX should. The best my DX has ever ran. There is more in store for DX users from Drod2169....

So why do you want to remove the only thing you like

He is saying the only thing he likes about this ROM is it removed the stock launcher, not that he likes the stock launcher, he likes the fact that this ROM removes the stock launcher and is asking how to remove it (presumably he is using a different ROM but doesn't want to change ROMs just to remove the stock launcher).

The brightness hack is implemented in the framework-res.apk, specifically, the resources.arsx file.

As noted above, Drod's got a file to return it to stock settings already.

...or, you could install REVOlution and that'll fix it too :D

If you bricked your phone you probably forgot to mount the system after formatting everything.

After I go into Mounts and Storage, format system, format data, format cache. I went selected mount /system from the top of the Mounts and Storage menu.

What part did I mess up? Thanks for the help.

EDIT: I get the error can't open /sdcard/rubixfocoused0.3.zip (bad).

What would you like to see for screen shots, I could take a few. I think there aren't any since it's hard to tell that you're running the ROM because everything feels/looks the same, just a little better.

Maybe the app drawer so you can see what is still there (would only be any good after a fresh install though)?

Whats a good free file manager to replace the Files app? It is all I have used up until now (and even then I've only needed it a few times), but I'm not willing to buy one.

ASTRO File Manager.

ASTRO File Manager.

How does it compare with EStrongs File Explorer? Based on votes on AppBrain, EStrongs is better, with a better UI and all, but ASTRO is definitely one I have heard of and would probably be what I used if I didn't want to search for a different one.

I always used EStrongs before I rooted and I liked it, now I use Root Explorer for everything. Speed Software makes Root Explorer and here is their file manager app for non-root users:

I installed this right over FlyX, however you do have to format system and data and cache so i'm not sure how much of FlyX remained after all of that. needless to say i did not return to 2.1 or the original 2.2 leaks to install this rom. I just followed the instructions perfectly from a FlyX v.1 system.
