Root [ROM] ApeX V1.0 for Droid X - An AOSP Experience (10/20/10)

Running RC1 and will attempt RC2 in a bit. I was noticing that panoramic shots in the camera would FC and also downloading anything from the Market would FC. Any idea of these have been addressed or if it was just me having the problems?

Edit: Seems like they have been fixed for the time being. The speed increase over RC1 is incredible. Thanks again Fab!

Got everything set up today, thanks Fab. Got some screen shots here if anyone wants to see: http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid-x/124658-what-do-your-x-screens-look-like.html

I am loving this now, hopefully I don't have any problems. I am loving this ROM so far

Glad your install was successful. :)

I installed RC2 over RC1 (no data wipe) and everything's still smooth (no random reboots). Still considering flashing 2.2OTA and doing a clean install but would love to know if the new kernel and radio actually enhance performance in any way.

after flashing the 2.2 sbf i have noticed solid and faster wifi and 3G.
i always like to get the new kernels and basebands whenever i can. they tend to improve signal and battery life.

This is really frustrating me. My third attempt to install this ROM and every time I do it through ROM manager and select the wipe data and cache option, it seems to do a wipe, but then reboots into stock android with blur like the phone came with. It doesn't even install this ROM at all. Wtf am I doing wrong. Bootstrap is installed and working fine and everything. Ugh.

EDIT: Nevermind, did it without ROM Manager and it worked. Weird. Booting up now, I'm excited :D Thanks for the ROM.

Doing it thru Rom manager won't mount the system. So you were basically just wiping your system and rebooting. It acts like its installing, but it doesn't.

All market apps have been removed from this rom. So if you just poke around the market for a bit you can redownload them

Fabulous- quick troubleshooting question:

I installed REVOlution over RC2 along with the revolution font, and now my browser will not wrap the text after zooming in. I don't recall using my browser after installing RC2 but before installing revolution (if that makes sense), so I cannot isolate when this started.

Could this be the font pack? I may try that first since it's the easiest to change.

Thanks again for your support and great work!

EDIT: Switched fonts and the problem is gone. Odd...

Running RC2, no theme or font. Text doesnt' wrap when pinching to zoom, but does when you double tap.

Okay, so that's the same as base froyo...

I switched back to the stock font (Fabulous included that in a .zip too since he's such a nice guy) and the problem is gone. I'll try the nextheme font and see how that works.

EDIT: Nextheme font works great and looks even better!

Running RC2 and it's GREAT! Thanks so much for the time and effort you put in. I'm also running nextheme, but with the stock font, and that is also great. This is the first ROM I've tried on the DX, thanks for making it a painless experience :D

Im sorry but i just cant seem to dig out the answer as to what "Bootstrap recovery and reboot recovery" are. Is this accessed by a combination of buttons or is there software I need to find? Im a bit lost in the mix as all this hacking has taken so many directions since the phone stated getting hacked. Hope someone will take a min and set me straight. Thanks!!

anyone else's phone getting hot after the update?

My phone gets hot on all froyo roms after running it for awhile. I've read a lot of other people experience the same thing, so I think it's natural behavior. Download OS Monitor from the market and just make sure your cpu isn't running at 100% when it shouldn't be. Sometimes certain apps can cause that to happen and make the phone too hot with excessive battery drain.

Download the DroidXBootstrap from the link Shamrock13 posted, install it on your phone, then open it. There are 2 buttons. 1 is "Bootstrap Recovery", click that and it should say "Success!" Then, cilck the "Reboot Recovery" button, and your phone will reboot into the recovery mode where you can install ROMs and such.

This is an excellent rom and by far the best running one I have flashed yet. Its super quick and fluid with no hesitations plus you can't beat the openness and customization of it. Thanks Fabulous for all of your hard work! Keep it up!

anyone else's phone getting hot after the update?

the new 2.2 OTA or SBF includes a new kernel. sometimes it takes a while for the phone to settle in with kernels. also right after you update the phone does a lot of syncing which uses data which generates heat. this thing gets no where near as hot as my over clocked D1 did and it still runs strong.
