Root [ROM] ApeX V1.0 for Droid X - An AOSP Experience (10/20/10)

Gmail keeps force closing now and this is with just your regular NexTheme installed. What do I do? I think it force closed because of the original theme so I installed the NexTheme over top of it. I don't know what to do. :(

Shamrock, what I posted in response to Trooper (3 posts above) would work the same way for you.

I installed this Rom over the leaked Froyo. Am I now running the official Froyo or do I have to flash SBF for that?
RC2 is built off OTA 2.2 (2.3.15), but installing it is not the same as the genuine OTA 2.2. There are things like the bootloader, kernel, and radio changes that are not effected by installing ROMS.

**Please correct me if I am wrong in anyway, just trying to help out and spread what I've learned**

Thanks! That worked perfectly! Do you have any tips on how to merge certain aspects of themes?

So I installed RC2 over rubiX 0.5 without wiping data. Everything seems to run smoothly except the calendar sync (which was a problem with rubiX that I fixed with the dev's fix.).

Sadly I can't seem to get this to work with apeX. Is there any way I can fix the sync without a fresh install?

You're going to want to reinstall the rom by following the original instructions, except not formatting the data or cache. This will allow you to keep your personal settings and apps, and will restore the ROM back to its original state (not themed).

Here are the instructions you need with the formatting of data and cache removed.

So I dont have to sbf and factory reset? Just basically install this as per the instructions you snipped and I get rid of Black Glass and Nextheme?

Sweet!

hi can someone load the original rc1 wallpaper like pictured above thanks!!!

anytime ...hope you enjoy as much as the rest of us have ...u may want to try the nex one theme as it looks awesome on top of rc2

never used a nex theme but... it was the first thing I did install once the phone was flashed properly. Looks amazing. Rom seems very responsive. Tranq needed a complete rebuild in my mind. (Im no expert just a thought). I am enjoying this for now.

Plus i love this part ====>>> 2.2sbf>rom>theme>sync :):)
Old way => 2.1 sbf>system leak1>system leak2>rom>build props>patcher>theme>sync

Ok, im gonna go for it! Could someone send me a link to the new 2.2 full sbf? I assume that the process is the same as for the old 2.1 gift?

www.rootzwiki.com

most sites do not host that stuff. but they have a downloader that you then can download rsd lite 4.8 and sbf which worked for me. If the SBF doesnt load right, rename it with an extra " " and then rename it back and it should work. I had hours of trouble... just a heads up.

FAB...
LOVING THE ROM! It was a bit of dumbness on my part but love the rom.

A couple suggestions/ideas to explore as I have seen them in/on other roms and phones. (unsure if they work will denote)

Brightness hack, ITS ALLOWS THE AUTO BRIGHTNESS TO GO TO 1% to save battery default lowest is 42%, also making even better would being user setable lowest and highest brightness, was in buglessbeast and ported for 2.3.15version rom on dx.

hi can someone load the original rc1 wallpaper like pictured above thanks!!![/QUOTE]it should still be on your phone .....long press your home screen and a wallpaper poppup will appear....u will see one that says Tranq...set it as your home screen

I got RC2 installed the other day and it was been working great so far, it seems like the random reboots when unlocking the screen are gone. It's running extremely fast and smooth, love it.

This ROM is THE TRUTH.

This. phone. flies.

It's the way the Droid X should have been right out of the box! The speed is great, the native music player actually works well, the bloatware is gone, the phone is plain awesome!! I love it!! This is my first weekend with the ROM and I have no regrets at all. :)

Why Motorola? Why screw great hardware with your crappy software I ask!!?!

Thanks for the great work Fabolous et al! Keep it up! :D

Hey can some people give me some suggestions? I've noticed (unless it's just me) the alarms & timers and the text messaging app are both absent from this ROM. So, what is everyone using for an alarm app? I would like a full, free app, or if anyone has the stock alarms & timers .apk file, that'd be awesome. And for text messaging, does everyone just use handcent?

The alarm is there, it's just under clock rather than alarm clock and it is the DeskClockGoogle.apk file and there is a messaging app also, mms.apk. I use the stock text app along with the SMS Popup app.

Oh wow, I didn't even notice the Clock app, stupid me. It's pretty nice too :) Thanks.

Hey Fab. You did a great job with this Rom. My phone is running so smooth. Finally feels a little like my Droid 1 did after being Romed and OCed and all that. Couple of questions though.

First, since I installed I've noticed my service is jumping around a lot. In my house I usually had 1-2 bars on 3G and 2-3 bars 1x. Now my 3G is jumping from 1 bar to 4 bars to no service just staying in one spot. It's really strange. Never had no service here before. I installed this Rom over 2.2 leak so I'm assuming there was no radio change. Any help with this?

Also, when I'm in the dialer and hit the voicemail button the phone jumps right back to the homescreen. I also noticed the button to the right of the call button doesn't do anything. I'm not even sure what that does or if I've ever used it before but I tested it when I noticed the issue with voicemail.

And third, I saw this mentioned abouve but it seems some websites are running a little laggy, especially while typing.

Do you have any fixes for these issues. If not, any suggestions? Maybe flashing the official Froyo SBF? I love the Rom, everything else is running flawlessly. Thanks for your work.

Mine does the same thing plus the 3G and radio signals die when you press the voicemail button. They come right back up afterward though.

This ROM is running amazing. I agree this is the way it should have come out of the box. Great work on this.

My question is, is anyone using LaunchPro on top of this? I have been using LaunchPro since day one on my X and really like it. However I did not want to hurt the speed of this ROM by putting a lot on top of it, however I like the custom docks and the resizing features in LaunchPro and just wanted to see if this hurts the speed of ROM at all. I also love the app screen on the ROM and know that LaunchPro will take that away.

I'm running LauncherPro over it. Tested it out before and after and haven't noticed any change in speed. I did notice that adding certain widgets that automatically refresh such as the stock news widget and the youtube widget do create a little bit of delay when swiping through homescreens. But those have nothing to do with LauncherPro.

I'm using Lp also, have you tried using a higher memory preset in LP? It may help with the lag.

Yeah, hitting the voicemail button will cause the dialer to FC because it is trying to launch an app that was removed. You guys can just hold down 1 to get to voicemail. As for reception jumping around, have you tried dialing *22899 ?

I did the *228. It actually took me a few times for it to go through because the reception would drop while doing that too. But it hasn't fixed the issue.

my reception seemed a little weird after flashing the sbf but i did a *22899 and after a few hours or so i have had no issues at all.
