Root [ROM] ApeX V1.0 for Droid X - An AOSP Experience (10/20/10)

Did a fresh install of RC2. Everything seems to run fine except one thing:

THAT STUPID UID 1001 Sensor usage.

I have no idea what it is, but it comes up every time after I make a phone call. From rubiX and 2.2.9 I know that it caused some significant battery drain.

I've searched high and low for a solution, or even to figure out what UID 1001 is and what sensors it consists of, but NOBODY seems to know.

Until then, I guess I'm stuck with ~17 hrs of battery life instead of the ~25 ish I got back with 2.1.

okay, tried it again, just waiting on the boot, no worries now, not like the last 5 hours when i thought i had bricked it as i foorgot to mount :)

could that be from increasing the regularity that the sensor checks if your face is there? that's one of the tweaks in the build.prop to make the phone respond quicker when you pull it from your face. could you try modding those lines back to the default and seeing if it makes a difference.

I have RC2 installed over RC1 installed over the leaked 2.3.9. Thinking about going to the OTA build for better radio. Can I just SBF 2.2 over this and install RC2 or do I need to SBF 2.1 and go all the way back, OTA update, then install RC2?

I went from RubiX to the 2.2 .sbf, rooted, installed the bootstrap app and then installed ApeX RC2.

Follow the steps in the first post for a clean install. That will remove all previous themes and rom aspects. It will also delete your apps and settings. If you choose not to wipe data and cache, you may preserve your apps and settings, but also possibly cause problems with ApeX.

OK thanks.

I just decided earlier today to restore my nandroid backup from last week before I themed anything. So now my question is, is my phone still deodexed? Or did the nandroid backup put everything back to an odexed state?

Only curious because I want to for now install your vanilla lock sliders and the blackstatusbar mod.

If its back to an odexed state, no worries as I will be deodexed once I install the RC2 candidate correct?

Yes, you can SBF the 2.2 OTA, root the phone, install bootstrap, then install RC2. I did that exact process and it ran flawlessly.

if your phone was deodexed when you made the backup than it will still be after you restore it from the deodexed nandroid.

I just SBF'ed to the official 2.2 over RC2. The whole process went through and when my phone rebooted it looked exactly how it did before I SBF'ed. Rom and all. So I did a factory reset, and reactivated my phone without letting data restore anything. So now I am at stock 2.2 with nothing added. Only problem is my bootloader is still at 30.01. Isn't the official update supposed to change that? I want to root and reinstall RC2 but before I do all that I want to make sure I am actually running the official 2.2. Is there any way to check for sure?

It was not deodexed, so guess I have to let the RC2 install deodex it right?

Also as for my apps, should I just do a fresh install of everything? Or back them up and then restore?

I'm thinking fresh install of all apps which I know will take a lot longer to accomplish, but probably better in the long run no?

All I can tell you is that when I installed ApeX I did it completely fresh, and it has been spectacular. Snappy, no lag, and none of the other issues that some seem to have. I would say that if you are planning to keep it for a while, then spend the couple of hours to set it back up from scratch.

okay i am going to give this one more shot, it seems to be the best running rom here....i do the three wipes from under the mount settings, then i select mount then back to install zip from sd card (will redownload the zip) and that should be it?

the first time i didnt do the mount, the second time i did it all according to the bost and it hung, so byte me
