Lock the camera open!

I kept having problems accidentally backing out of the camera mode when taking pictures, then I discovered that if you hit the power button on the phone it will lock the camera "open" so that you can't accidentally hit another button while holding the phone to take a picture. Just hit the power button again to unlock it.

yea that was a p.i.t.a till another fella from the forums pointed it out .. i used to think phone was frozen lol

locking it won't let me take pictures though. only point i see for locking is when you're recording. or am i missing something here?

Hmm you're right. I guess the use is to lock the camear open, and then unlock it when you need to take a shot...

I have another problem. When you're in camera mode - you can't turn off the phone. Sometimes I want to use the phone as a digital camera, where I turn it on, take a pic turn it off, then turn it back on for another pic 5 minutes later. But since they've made the power button act as a lock, you can't actually power down the phone while the camera's on.

Well the answer's obvious. Just back out using the back arrow, or the home button, then power down.

the lock mode is nice after you start recording video so not to accidentally stop recording.

Well obviously that works. But it always takes about 6-8 seconds for the camera to close out and back out to the main page before I can shut the phone. The reverse is true also - it takes a few seconds to enable the camera again the next time I power it on.

On a normal day, this isn't that big of a deal. But if you're using the phone as a camera (ie when travelling), this gets on your nerves REALLY quickly.
