Root [ROM] ApeX V1.0 for Droid X - An AOSP Experience (10/20/10)

Done!! I am going to use my other file... I love this rom!!! Do you guys know where I can get pictures of the themes suggested for this rom?

Good to know, I was thinking about posting on how to turn off the oc with this ROM. Cheers man!

Did you notice any improvement since you did the sbf? Just curious if you have gotten any better reception? Thanks Tom.

my reception and battery life seem better.

It's in the application settings. Press menu in Handcent to get there.

BTW, I'm almost sure that the reason Handcent has that time offset on there by default is to fix the problem in the stock DX build.

There is no timestamp issue with this ROM, so the "fix" Handcent employed is actually breaking it :D

I use Chomp and have no problems. Neither does the included stock SMS app.

So wait, I don't need to use SMS Time Fix?

i flashed to the 2.2 sbf since fab was basing this rom off of that framework. plus you get the new kernel and baseband with it. also its nice being able to sbf to 2.2 instead of back to 2.1 if you get bootlooped doing something.

Alright, I'll SBF to 2.2 tonight. Were you also on the leaked 2.2? I'm assuming that since it's a SBF I shouldn't have any trouble loading it on to my leaked 2.2 since it'll reflash everything. Correct me if I'm wrong before I go and brick my X. :D

Assuming I can follow directions (I've made it this far), what's still unclear is whether or not I'll need to re-root after SBF'ing. Can anyone clarify that point for me again? Koush's Bootloader?

--SBF 2.2
--Install Apex
--Install Revolution Theme & Stuffs
--Restore user apps/data via TiBu
--??
--Profit!

you will be fine. but after the sbf you may want to do a factory reset since it does not erase data. also you will need to reroot your phone

It's in the application settings. Press menu in Handcent to get there.

I checked there first with the intention of trying to solve it myself...clearly I need to look harder.

By the way, this ROM is AWESOME! Thanks for all your hard work Fab. I'm loving this thing.

Since installing this I've had trouble connecting with USB in PC Mode or Windows Media Sync. In PC Mode the device isn't recognized at all. In WMS mode the drivers fail to load. This was never an issue prior to this ROM. Any suggestions?

I've had this problem on other ROMs too, try running it in "charge only" mode. Works for me.

Also, I believe starting with 2.3.13 or 2.3.15, those two modes (PC and Media) began requiring the newer Motorola drivers.

Personally, I use charge only mode since it actually also has USB debugging, but my Media and PC modes work fine too after installing the new drivers.

My drivers aren't installing correctly. Any idea on how I can get them to install so that I can SBF and then install Apex?

I just flashed this ROM from Fission and so far so good... I am having a couple little minor bugs though.. Is the Brightness issue a deal with all AOSP ROMs? Auto works fine but the manual setting always does 100%. Also on Launcher Pro I can't get GMail to show an Unread count on the dock, I have cleared cache and data.

Thanks for an Awesome ROM Fab!!

you need overclock first should look like this

#overclock -off (or -on)

Mass storage has worked fine so I'm sure charge only will too. I just got used to the convenient auto conversion on video files when I move them onto the X. On the bus so can't use my comp....anyone have a link to the new moto drivers? TIA

You will need to uninstall and then reinstall Launcher Pro. That is the only thing that fixed mine.

Yes, this fixes the "no gmail notification on LP icon" problem. You can back-up your LP settings, and then restore after you uninstall and re-install LP. All you have to set back up are your homescreen widgets.

I started a thread just for this question, because I am always seeing people ask this and it isn't very easy to find on the Moto site. Follow the link below.

I'm wondering for those who are having the Gmail issue, did you install this ROM over another and keep the data?

I think the problem is that on the previous ROM, Gmail was on the /system partition, and it's removed in this ROM since it's a market app, which means your phone downloaded it to /data. Unfortunately, LP doesn't account for this switch without a reinstall.
