Root [ROM] ApeX V1.0 for Droid X - An AOSP Experience (10/20/10)

And now (two days later), the reboots have started (overclocked to 1.25Ghz). I'm going to try go back to default overclocking for awhile to see if it cures it...

I renamed the folder, nothing else. I've also tried recreating the nandroid.md5. It's really bothering me because the hashes all match up. There's literally no reason to not flash. Maybe it has something to do with Clockwork?
 
Ok Ok Ok after so many comments and great feedback I am going to use this ROM =) I will come back to let you know how everything went...
 
I know I am asking a lot of question but how do we do the overclocking? I had that app before that you set the overclocking so not sure if I should continue using that app or the script that his rom has?
 
FYI, installing 928 Black Glass over this ROM re-installs every last bit of the blur junk.
Thank goodness for back ups. :D

By default it does 1.1 on stock voltages. Check the overclock script in terminal emulator to see all that it does.

basically, if you want to turn off auto overclocking,

su
overclock -off

Then you can use another program to control overclocking if you'd like.

Does this need to be inputted after each reboot or will the "overclock -off" command survive a reboot?

I've been sitting on the leaked 2.2 (2.3.15 guts) for a while now running TranQ 2.2.3, so I've realized I'm (a) out of date with that ROM and (b) very far behind the scene with this new beauty (among others). Also, running Revolution Theme, for what it's worth.

It seems a fair amount of people have installed this, would it be recommended to SBF to OTA 2.2 or should I take my chances and just install straight over the leaked 2.2?
Would I be able to Nandroid back to what I have assuming I SBF and go OTA? Or am I up a creek. I don't have that much to lose other than settings and apps/data but I figured that leads into my next question

Also, has anyone had problems restoring user apps/data via TiBu after putting this on?

i flashed to the 2.2 sbf since fab was basing this rom off of that framework. plus you get the new kernel and baseband with it. also its nice being able to sbf to 2.2 instead of back to 2.1 if you get bootlooped doing something.
 
My Handcent texts are way off on the time/date stamp as well. I saw that the solution was to set the offset to 0 but I'm not sure where to do that? Is it a terminal command?

Did you notice any improvement since you did the sbf? Just curious if you have gotten any better reception? Thanks Tom.

It's in the application settings. Press menu in Handcent to get there.

BTW, I'm almost sure that the reason Handcent has that time offset on there by default is to fix the problem in the stock DX build.

There is no timestamp issue with this ROM, so the "fix" Handcent employed is actually breaking it :D

I use Chomp and have no problems. Neither does the included stock SMS app.
