DROID 2 OTA update!

Ok, so it's done. It took about 5 mins and all seems to be running smoothly; the first difference that I notice is that the wifi flickering problem that I had seems to be gone and it now switches to wifi from 3g pretty quickly. Thats all for now. I'll check out the battery life tomorrow.

Forgot to so give the system version. Just in case you were wondering:

Version.2.3.20.A955

I have the update, but have not installed as I would like to share with others who haven't gotten it yet. Will try to get the file sometime today.

Glad that they are addressing the issue with adding a pic to your contacts, that will not get over ridden by facebook.. Or at least I think that is what they mean. Nothing about the calendar glitch though..

So are we going to figure out an OTA block for us rooted, like I had mentioned over a month ago and it was ignored?
Or will this NOT break root

What happens to the R2D2 Droid 2 users that have Version 2.4.5.A957?
We won't get these improvements since technically our version is higher?
Going through the list I noticed I can already export contacts to my SD card but don't have VZW Navigator for example..

Can someone confirm if this update addresses the Corporate Pin Lock issue. I have quite a few co-workers still hoping for a fix.

Once again, ya gotta love Verizon and Motorola. Both deny any form of update is happening. The Verizon and Motorola techs both "checked with supervisors" and both said "these are internet rumours"

I got my update at about 5am this morning. No problems at all.

Would be great to know!

I was rooted and received the update sometime during the night.

I posted a link to the file that I "believe" to be the update file earlier in this thread. That file came off my device, but the name of the file was Blur_Version.2.2.20.A955.Verizon.en.US.zip in my Cache folder. That isn't the name that I was looking for (I was looking for something named 2.3.20), so I am not positive that the file is correct, but after running the update the file had "vanished", so I believe it to be the right one. I'm hoping someone more intelligent than I can confirm it :-)

If you are running with the standard ROM you will get notified of the OTA when you are notified. If you are running a custom ROM it depends on what the developer who wrote the RAM did when he created it.

This update will cause you to no longer have root after you apply it. If you got it once you should be able to get it again.

Assuming we can update and root again will the ROMs that are out work since they are based off 2.2?

No update here - I had the phone check.
I would love verification on the file available. I have no issues trying it and rerooting for those who are not sure.
What the hell, I have only bricked once in a year (cross fingers, run, duck, hide)...

I know this doesn't mean much since I posted the file, but I just tried the "manual update" process with the file and it went through just fine. I once again lost root access, but the update process completed with no issues. There's a reasonable chance I got the correct file.

Does anyone know the difference between the current regular Droid 2 (not the new OTA update) and the R2D2 droid versions? I am just curious...Let me start there..
