2.1 released in UK?

Had a call from a very nice lady at Orange UK yesterday and she confirmed that they will be releasing 2.1 at the end of November as they need 30 days to test the softwear.
 
wait, so when is the vodafone release date? also, if i debrand my phone, can i get the update now?

Don't want to sound stupid but don't listen to everything that the customer services team tell you - they don't have any first hand information... only the testers will know and not the call centre.

I have been promised things in the past by many operators and its usually just crap they say to keep you happy.

Bare in mind, Orange, Three, T-Mobile will probably be the last networks in the UK to receive the update, I know this due to past experience with these operators - they heavily customize there packages which is not good... I chose Virgin this time and the X10mini pro they supplied me was factory unlocked and unbraded (sim free basically).

Just before i go share a nice V&T with rosered...

I would like to note - a few people on other websites have been saying that they have updated in the UK to 2.1 via a repair update in the update software in pc companion - its crap, ive just tried it and had to put everything back on my phone, bar the contacts which id backed up... wat a waste of bum... time for that drink... Rosered, im comming over :)
 
if your handset is sim free then it will be a generic version, basically it will be unlocked from factory and un-branded.

You will get the update before the networks roll out their's... no dates tho as of yet.

Check by doing the following...

Lock the phone, and when you're on the swipe screen, press Menu, Back, Back, Menu, Back, Menu, Menu, back

Then Service Info then Model Info and have a look where is says Brand: XXX

If it says Brand: Customized, then you can update as soon as it is released by SE :)

I can assure you there is no intentions to mislead anyone ,I simply tried sony website and found those info so i thought to share it with you guys here...and I edited the info so people know what is going on later...anyways it is a good idea you added the ? to the title .I dont mind if you want to delete the whole post so the good folks dont get mislead and some people dont get nonsense and there time wasted :) ..Peace

Ooooh no don't want to lose the thread, it's just one of those strange ones where the english language can mean 5 different things depending how you read it. No harm, no foul. It's a good one to leave running until all out lovely carriers start putting it out there for us. Any bets on who will be first!?
 
Maybe they have all got together and will release the UK firmware on the same day... yawn stretch ooohhh think I must have nodded off and had a lovely dream!

I think it's because apple don't let the different networks put all their crap on them and SE do.
I don't know why it's probably because apple have more bargaining power and just say 'you can't have our phone if you put all your crap on'. In my experience stuff added by the networks is pretty useless and generally ignored by users but it might make them a bit of money somewhere so they want it on, it's all about the benjamins!
 
Ill have to agree with you on that.
This is comming from an iphone deserter moved to X10i which i think is a far better phone, it does everything i need it to do alot easier that the iphone did.

Yup, checked the model info and it is Customiized, so hopefully SE should release it for the UK???

with everyone who has flashed their phone with either the nordic or the global FW....was it worth it?

or is it worth waiting for the proper one when it gets released to the uk?

It was worth it for me, I'm just going to flash back to UK Generic when it is released

Pity i can't down it at work, so will have to wait till I get home tonight.
