Nov. Maintenance OTA Update Discussion Thread

(for the 2nd time).

Actually the 4th :D but who's counting. Maybe 2nd time you've said sayonara! Anyways much thanks for keeping on top of things and your time dedicated to making this a better place. It doesn't go unnoticed ;)

I got the update and I have to say that the ONE bug that I am glad was fixed was the Gmail app bug where the reply bar did not stick to the top once you scroll past it in a long email. A very welcome fix...

That's pretty nice, I didn't even notice that before!

Mine was waiting for me this morning, in MA.

One notable item (or maybe it's not). I have wifi on when I am home, so the notification to the phone and the download occurred with the wifi on. I have wondered and asked about this in the past, and now know that wifi won't interfere with getting updates.

Same here. in MA and WIFI on.

it will probably fail.

i am rooted and on stock and i manually updated (RUU). make sure you have S-OFF else you will lose root. this OTA comes with a new HBOOT and recovery, so I had to manually update the recovery after the update. see this thread
How do I unroot? I used unrevoked forever to do the root...

Thanks!

you don't need to unroot. you can just use the RUU method to update. if you use titanium backup then just restore the user apps + system data after you are done with all the steps. try the instructions in this thread. it is quite comprehensive.

if you don't feel like extracting the rom.zip then download it straight from here (see post #67, it is the same thread i mentioned earlier).

then follow the remaining things in the User_Guide.pdf including reflashing the recovery and adding the su-*.apk

I'm assuming it doesn't, but does anyone know if this current November update modifies or adds anything to the bluetooth stack?

if i installled the froyo update using the RUU method, will this update still get pushed to me still or do i have to use the same method again.

i am unrooted btw

you will get the OTA like all non-rooted users. (actually root users on stock ROM get the OTA notification except it never installs)

Hmmmm....I thought this thread was about the update, not all things root. Isn't there a thread for that?

BTW, NE Ohio and still no update.

yes sorry. someone mentioned root and updates and i responded without much thought.

anyways i posted the same info in this thread

so people with root+stock rom can continue the discussion there.

This might be a dumb question but is there a update.zip that comes with his OTA so that we can manually install like 2.2?

I'll be passing on this update. Rooted with Hydra Kernel 2.6.32 undervolted, otherwise stock. The Hydra Kernel appears to have taken care of the slow charging issue for me. I don't see any other benefit of this update for me personally.

Just curious... for those of you that have received the update, what's the kernel version? Settings/About Phone/Software/Kernel Version.

I just updated, and now my phone continually reloads the home screen and flashes a white HTC screen ever minute or two. Has anyone else experienced this?

Interesting, the post from NE Ohio saying "no update." One of the accountholders on our plan is in Ohio near Cleveland and she got the update on her Dinc this morning. Meanwhile, I'm in SE PA and if the sequence is the same as the Froyo update, will get mine tomorrow morning.

Oh man - I'm so jealous! Yeah, that's me in NE Ohio.

Got mine this morning as well. Live in MA. I'm pleased with the MUCH improved charging with the phone on. I was at 40% after update and it took under 2 hours to get to 100%. The only problem I noticed was after it hit 100% I unplugged and literally 5 minutes later, with no use, it was down to 95%. So I recharged, then bumped at around 2pm and I'm still at 90% with normal use (have an extended battery also). Went on Vcast store for all of 2 minutes and it sucks, IMO.

Someone else experienced this issue. Apparently with the update the icons and widgets on your screens are getting doubled up and layered on top of each other. Try dragging the top layer of all icons into the garbage and see if this fixes the issue for you.

Mine didn't flash the screen, but i did have to remove the double icons. It ran fine, but everything had doubles.

That's strange. This didn't happen when I updated. Has it happened to a lot of people?
