so, should I give up on galaxy? in 6 months there will not be an app for 1.5![]()
That means we need an equivalent secure ril OR the source code for samsung's rild. Its unlikely they'll hand that over because its probably the same interface they use in their other phones.
BUT the crucial thing here is samsung use some secure ril layer. Its probably totally custom to them.
If migrating galaxy to 1.6 or 2.0, why not port the stuff that we want from 1.6/2.0 to 1.5? Surely it should be easier to port, say, the settings portion as a separate application (and I guess you'd need root), no?
Bear in mind that your 1.5 applications aren't all magically going to stop working when 1.6 / 2.0 is mainstream, all that it means is that you won't get any future development.
By that logic, I could port all my Windows 7 applications to run in DOS and get all my Xbox 360 games to run on an original Xbox.
The problem are not 1.5 applications, but 1.6 applications that are not backward compatible to 1.5 (which is only few months older than 1.6).
