Root Can't get past 1.15Ghz on Jrummy Overclock

I'm having a bit of trouble with overclocking. I'm running Fission 2.1, no theme at the moment. I tried using the built-in overclocking zip files but they made my phone extremely slow and very unstable. After that I downloaded Jrummy's Overclocking app. I can only get up to 1.15Ghz on all four voltage settings before my phone craps out on me. I've tried going higher on different voltage settings but to no avail. What am I doing wrong?
 
Each device is different mine will not go above 1.15 without it going into turtle mode on me. You just have to play around with it.
 
Even if you can't go higher than 1.00, if you use ULV, you'll get the benefit of longer battery life.
 
I don't mean to offend any dev's by saying this, but I'll relate my experiences. I've had similar experiences on Fission. I found ApeX and RubiX to be more stable. I use ApeX. I've tried every ROM (except chevy's) and always come back to ApeX. I run Apex smoothly @ 1.35 for days. I don't have it set to overclock at boot. I've found that to be disastrous.

Your experience may be different, but I've found ApeX to run the smoothest at higher clock speeds. I don't keep it at 1.35 to save battery. I just run it there when I'm using my phone a lot. BTW, I am oc'd at medium voltage, fyi.

All processors are different. You have a really good one. They all HAVE to be rated for 1 ghz. Yours works more efficiently at lower voltage. Mine does not. If my processor were at ULV at 1.35 ghz, then I'd be rebooting a lot.
 
Processors are different. You got lucky. Mine would freeze at ULV.

Edit: I'm trying 1.35 at ulv now. It's a bit jerky. I may try LV.
 
Bro,

ulv - ultra low voltage. In jRummy's overclock program, select "set scaling frequencies" Then you are presented with 4 voltage settings. The lower the setting the more battery you save. Higher clockspeeds need more "juice", so you are constantly tweaking to see how little voltage you can give and still get overclocked. I find that medium voltage running 1.35 ghz is smooth like a baby's tooshie. However, I'm trying ULV now and it doesn't seem to bad. Perhaps it'll lock up on me, we'll see.

I tried Apex, it didn't really wow me, but I'll give it another shot. I mean they're both doing the same no-blur thing so i'll give it a whirl.
 
Honestly, DX roms DON'T WOW! They are built for speed, eliminating some or all blur. The issue is that you can't really change much because of eFuse, the bootloader lock. There are some tweaks, like battery usage and reporting. Some roms overclock, etc.

The sexiness comes from the Theme you apply. There are no roms that look fantastic out of the box, imo.
 
Thanks guys. I just chose 1.1 preset. What's the best way to test. I ran quadrant a few times. It seems ok. Should I try 1.15?
 
I never use the pre-set. I've never had a pre-set that was stable. I always OC AFTER I boot and only use it when I need it. I stay more stable that way. I found that when I OC at boot, I have a LOT of problems. I'd stay away from it. Just my .02.
 
Here's a good way to test... set your scaling governor to performance. This means your cpu will always be on the fastest speed. It's not good for battery life, but might be a good way to check for flakiness. Then play something cpu/graphics intensive, like a game and see if it plays ok with no hangs. I chose "angry birds". At 1.35/ULV I couldn't even start the game, the "Play" button did nothing. I dropped to 1.30 and got a FC in DX OC pgm so dropped it to 1.25, which seemed to work ok.

Once you're done testing, set the governor back to "onDemand".

Hmmmm. got a slightly better Quadrant score at 1.25 as I did on 1.35.
 
I tried overclocking on Apex and I still get the same problem. Oh well, at least I can use ULV with 1.15, being on 60% percent for 4 hours is nice :D And it's still blazing fast, I'll play with the custom frequencies to see where I max out. Thanks for the help!

If your Overclock is stable, I would imagine you should be able to boot up with it as well. What are you using to test for stability? I used to use angry birds, which is a good start, but found that mine was not stable when using GPS, and Google Listen at the same time...It worked for a while, then bombed out on me while I was driving.
