Help HTC Desire issues list?

Be interested If just me, ok on to my second desire due to faults, Im on contract with t mobile, my 1st htc desire would not send picture messages, It said they were sent, but no one gets them, can receive them fine, even send them to myself and I will get them, just to no one else, very strange, also signal Is unstable and drops off constantly, streaming music via blu tooth is like having scratched disk, went on for 3 months, finally got them to except there is an Issue after sending them link to there forum with pages of people with same Issue, got new one finally and all was well for 2 weeks, now having same problems, but now with added touch screen Issues, where touch screen stops working till I switch It off or typing become really slow and can't keep up with me, and I type slow lol starting to think t mobile sending out little network updates that mess it up, anyone have this and manage to sort It,
Also you can use your own tones for text, just long winded way of doing it, I did It, and still not sure how, connected by usb, put tone In loads of system folders till it turned up it alert tones, ended up with loads of same song in player, but just deleted them, someone must know which folder works rather than my long winded way

Hi,

I am interested in getting a Desire, but have been reading a number of reviews form so called 'experts' on this phone and the Nexus One and have generated the following list of faults/bugs/problems/issues with the phones that I'm concerned about.

1. Diagonally drawn lines displaying as steps. (when compared to an iPhone)

2. Multi-touch inverting 'touch points' (Can't find Desire video now; here's a nexus one version showing same symptoms: Google

I have had mine for a week on the 3 network and it say it has not activated
so i called Carphone Warehouse and they said they do not do the phone on contract any more and i have to give it back! :(
I an so annoyed and have given up
are there any alternatives that are around the same price

Hi peeps

Me and my partner have both get desire's and we both love em but they both got there own problems, my partners keeps pulling the screens to the right and randomly selecting apps and options whereas mines has a habit of reseting about 15 timeas a day.

hey just got my desire the other day, and my screen keeps locking up. well not really locking up so much as it doesn't respond to touch. all the buttons continue to work though. didn't know if this was a software or hardware issue. advice?

No problems with my desire, the greatest phone I've either owned or played with... only thing that lets it down is putting a bog standard loud speaker on otherwise state of art phone, not having the volume up full stops this. Weirdly the loud speaker only distorts with calls, music is fine. although its still the best loud speaker on my phones (Heard the G1's) with only the iphones being a little bit better. I think the volume settings is too high for the loudspeaker could the fix be software????

I have this problem too but it seems to be a rare issue. I've been told to switch my phone

farther more i used my desire last night on loudspeaker and got no distortion i wonder if its caused by the network rather than the phone

That has to be the stupidest test ever. Just ask yourself: when will you ever need to draw perfectly straight diagonal lines on a phone where 99% of your contact with the screen is - tapping?

Not like some homicidal cult members will kidnap you and go "draw a perfectly straight diagonal line or else you're done, mister" :D

As for the Desire's screen... I've tried a bunch of touchscreen phones. Desire trumps them all. Easily the finest touchscreen I've tried so far.

Just picked up a new desire today, so far my only real gripe with it is that my screens not displaying the correct colour depth, something like comparing an 8-16bit screen to a 24bit screen, where colours fade into each other, they form bands of clear pixels that really stand out n ruin an otherwise brilliant phone...guess I'll have to send it away already :(

I think your screen is defective...before you give up on the Desire get a hands on comparison with a known good unit and see how it fairs. I have no such issues with the pixels or colours, even under a magnifying glass it looks great - definitely no clear pixels or banding.

When I compare side by side to an AMOLED screen, the SLCD on my Desire isn't quite as "vibrant" with colours, but as a photographer I find the SLCD is more neutral with the colours. The AMOLED screens have too much saturation and contrast which exaggerates colours. Many people like the punched up colours though and prefer the AMOLED screens. To each their own.

Hi Guys, i am planning to buy a new HTC Desire. But people scare me about the limited memory space for installing apps. I heard that we cant install apps into SD card but have to install into the internal memory, atleast not without tweak the fone a lot. I do download and install lot of applications and i am crazy abt it. I am not interested in uninstalling applications frequently. Please let me know if i will really have this prob. If yes, this is going to be a real pain in ***.

From what you have just said YES it will definitely be a problem for you.

Buy something else IMO.

Dunno what though:)

I have a simple art package on my Desire, I just successfully drew a diagonal line from one corner to the other and there wasn't a jaggy in sight, it was as smooth as smooth can be!

I've had mine since June last year with virtually no issues, I regularly watch videos on it and the image quality is fantastic, no problems with colour depth or stuff like that.

My only gripe with the phone is that the HD video recording isn't that great, but otherwise this is an amazing piece of kit.

There is no such thing as a perfect phone, they all have pro's and con's. What the consumer needs to do is determine which phone meets their needs, not pick one that does things they'll never need!

The only cautionary note I'd offer is that we're now in 2011 and new handsets from HTC and others will be on the way, almost certainly made for Android 2.3 and above. You might want to hold out to see what these new handsets will offer.

Ok, here I am a newbie to this forum and a newbie to android as well.

I purchased a t-mobile HTC Desire phone and for some strange reason, t-mobile sent me 2 phones today. I opened one of them and faced an issue with Speaker phone calls. 2 things to note here -
1. Speaker phone voice sounded cracked and low (compared to symbian phones which I have used till date)
2. If the person whom you were dialing was in the same room and on speaker phone (irrespective of model/make since I tried with nokia/sony ericsson/samsung) and you too were on the speaker phone, then there is a shrill and continuous echo which you can hear but the same fades out once you/other person moves out of the room.

I called up tmobile and informed them about this and they in turn told me to try and use the other new HTC Desire phone. To my surprise, the above 2 issues were also seen on the 2nd piece.

Too much of an co-incidence????

Did anybody else face a similar problem? Any insights would be appreciated, please.

Thanks
Arvind
HAHAHAHAHAHA is this a joke? Where have you been living for the last 100 years? Do you know anything about sound, speakers and microphones? I work in tech support and shit like this just make my day when i get to laugh at hilarous questions like this. HAHAHAHA

i want to buy a used desire.. and recently i have heard that desire's processor corrupts. thats why im very confused. if any one knows about it, please tell me.

I've never even heard of the term "processor corrupts". What exactly do you think happens?

I've been running my desire, overclocked for about a year now. No problems here.

Yes, that's what you posted 2 weeks ago, word for word. And I'll ask the same question SUroot asked: what do you mean "the processor corrupts"?

yea. i asked this before.. and i meant to say that I heard that desire's processor usually stop working.. so i want to know that is this so. thanx

I've not read of such a thing happening. My phone is a little over a year old, and a fair few people here have older ones, and they all seem to be working still.

The most serious systematic fault I'm aware of is that some of the early ones had motherboards that were prone to overheating (and hence crashing/shutting down). Anyone who had one of those should have got it replaced under warranty. Maybe that's what you'd heard of?
