Root [ROM] ApeX V1.0 for Droid X - An AOSP Experience (10/20/10)

trooper, what is it about that bar do you want? you can take the images from that theme and replace the images in an Apex theme. i recently learned how to do this. it's pretty simple. shoot me a pm and i can help you out. Fab and some other people on here have helped me out a lot so i guess i can help others too. :)
 
UhOh, Im new to Droid X root stuff since recently coming from a Rooted Droid 1. Will a 2.2.1 base need a new SBF file to recover? (Had to SBF twice already this week currently I have 2.3.15 SBF ) I wont upgrade to Apex 1.1 till Im sure I can SBF recover ok when I ineviteably screw something up.

Also FAB a request.....Chevy had a way to enable the stock browser to view websites as desktop version on his latest SS roms for Droid 1, anyway you can add this to Apex?? I have a few websites I can only see Mobil version and I tried other browsers I dont like.

All you need to do is open your browser and type "about:debug" (without the quotes) in the address bar, then press the menu button, scroll down to settings, then select UAString and put a tick next to "desktop".

Unfortunately, overclocking is out for now (due to the new kernel), but there will be much more choice now in terms of apps (Blur vs. AOSP).

Hope to finish it up in the next couple of days (def. by Wednesday night, since I'm leaving for Kentucky Thursday morning!)

Yeah, you'll have to have already updated to 2.2.1, since it needs the new kernel to run correctly.

The good news of course is that 2.2.1 is very good ;)

It does work? I've extracted the overclock module from the apk, but whenever I try to apply a setscaling.sh, it just reboots my phone.

I'm using the Milestone Overclock app from the Market. Does that app work differently than the others? I can't run JRummy's app but with Milestone Overlock I'm running at 1.25ghz at 69 volts.
 
for some reason, my phone only plays OGG with the latest APEX

none of my mp3 ringtones or sounds work. I even tried to rename them to ogg or also put them in the system dir.

any suggestions?
 
I'm sure it's an easy fix and I'm an idiot but I can't get my PC to recognize the phone in PC Mode since installing your ROM. It wouldn't recognize it periodically on SSx 1.0 but I can't get it to at all now. It charges the phone, USB Mode works, etc...no PC Mode.

Besides that...LOVE the ROM.

Thanks! I'm feeling much better and made it to my parents' house just fine. I'm just getting their computer set up now to continue work on 1.1! I hope to get it finished either tonight or tomorrow afternoon :)

Do you have the latest Motorola drivers? You can get em here:

Awesome! Thanks for all your hard work, especially during the holiday. I wasn't sure about applying the leak with all the horror stories over at MDW but was feeling adventurous (or bored) and flashed it. Everything went smoothly but I had some weird intermittent issues with Tranq 3.5 while making/receiving calls and then texts going to someone other than the person selected. I switched to drod's Focused that's compatible with the leak. It's running well (stable and fast) but I've noticed elevated battery usage even though I'm using jrummy's OC from the market with ULV settings. Sure miss Apex but glad I went ahead with the leak so I'll be ready for 1.1 as soon as it's ready. :)

Edit: per your question on twitter, I prefer the AOSP with black background as default SMS.
 
Sadly I had to jump ship from this ROM due to experience the random reboot issue others have shared. Perhaps I'll give the ROM another shot in the future (maybe something happened w/ the install?), but for now I shall go with Fission and see how it fares.
 
Alright, I'm (pretty sure) done with 1.1, but I'd like some extra feedback before making a thread here and putting it on ROM manager, so I've just put up a little blurb and link up here:

Once I get some more feedback, I'll start a new thread here for ApeX 1.1 (don't want to overwrite the stuff in this thread, since a lot of people are not on 2.2.1) and put it up in ROM manager.

And the default configuration is this: ADW.Launcher, Blur Email, AOSP SMS, Blur Gallery, and AOSP alarm clock. Of course, those can all be switched/configured to your liking.
