No. Maybe you should do some research. The latest articles have said that Google came to Verizon first and offered them this new phone and they turned it down, that's why they went to AT&T and T-Mobile. Do a little more research and get back to me on that one. Thanks.

Yes, it's obvious that this phone is GSM now. However, the point I was making is that that other guy who was posting was saying that GSM band was the ONLY logical choice for Google to have went to for this phone. I was simply saying that the evidence that says that Verizon was approached first and turned Google down on the offering, shows that Google THEMSELVES did not think that GSM was the OBVIOUS choice because of 90% of the world market share. So, that argument is baseless. This had nothing to do with you. I was simply getting tired of hearing all of that "GSM is the only choice to put this phone on" when Google themselves went to a CDMA carrier first instead of a GSM one. End. Of. Story.

Way to jump to conclusions, folks. The Nexus will only support T-Mobile's 3G band in the US (1700MHz) and 3G globally (900/2100MHz). Pretty much a sure sign this is simply a dev version of a real HTC phone, probably the Passion. So, back to square one. Really, this jives with the unlockr picture carrying the HTC branding and slightly different button assignment vs the Nexus. As for T-Mobile getting this, not sure what to make of those rumors. But the indications that it's a non-exclusive, unlocked phone for GSM carriers is debunked, at least for here in the US. Yeah, you can pop an AT&T SIM card in it, but it'll be no different than an imported phone. This is no google phone.

In all honesty it sort of makes sense that the Nexus Phone is gonna be 3g only on Tmobile since they were the first carrier to introduce Android to the world(g1)

Verizon just got the Droid and Eris

Tmobile has been stuck with the G1 for over a year and the Mytouch for about 5 months now.

Im not even gonna mention the Cliq which IMO is a Sidekick mixed with Android.

Im guessing that Tmobile is going to get the Nexus one in January. Then around March, Verizon or Sprint will get there new Android phone since they just got new devices.

Despite Google saying the phone will be sold unlocked realistically I view the phone as Tmobile only since that is the only carrier which 3g will work with the Nexus.

Yes it will work on ATT but only on Edge which is IMO not worth it due to how slow it is.

The Droid packs a decent size screen with a nice processor but also includes an absolutely worthless keyboard, looks and feels like a brick, and obviously doesnt include Sense UI. The Eris includes Sense UI, but has a crap screen, crap processor, and terrible battery life.

There are a large group of us that want to give Android a shot but have absolutely no appeal for either of the Droids. What we want is an android device with a 3.7"+ AMOLED screen, a snapdragon processor, no physical keyboard, and an appealing form factor. And preferably made by HTC so we can have access to Sense UI.

Would anyone like to guess why T-Mobile makes a good choice for Google to seel an unsubsidized cell phone through?

Anyone recall that T-Mobile just recently changed their plan structure to include Contract and Contract Free plans?

The Even More Plus plan which is a contract free plan is for purchasing of unsubsidized phones, and makes purchasing them actually much cheaper than subsidized phones both in up front cost and in total cost of ownership.

This is true because the contract free unsubsidized plan is $20 a month cheaper than the comparable contract, subsidized plan. Here's a quick comparison on a $400 phone

Even More Plus:
Up Front – ~$50(1st month + tax if applicable)
Monthly – $100(for first 19 months with unlimited TalkTextWeb then $80 afterwards)

Even More(Traditional)
Up Front – ~$200(Cost of phone plus applicable tax)
Monthly – $100(for 24 month average contract term with unlimited TalkTextWeb)

Total cost of ownership on EM+ – $2350 over 24 months with only ~$50 up front
Total cost of ownership on EM – $2600 over 24 months with $200+tax up front

Now if you ask me which one I'll be going for you better believe that I'm going for the unsubsidized phone! Lower up front cost, and same monthly cost as subsidized, but you get the benefit of your bill decreasing when you finish paying off that phone. Did I mention that it is interest free?

So Google choosing to sell this phone unlocked and unsubsidized plays very well for T-Mobile, considering the fact not too many people are willing to shell out $400-$500 up front and still be in a contract(remember the first generation iPhone? didn't get popular until the up front cost was lowered)

Just my 2 cents, but this is mainly for all those people bitching about how they'd rather have a $200 PassionC instead of a $400 Nexus One. Let me put it this way. I'd rather have a $50(up front cost) Nexus One than a $200 PassionC with a 24 month contract any day of the week.

Well no phone is absolutely perfect but as far as Android like I said Verizon has the best selection currently.

It actually wouldnt make sense to drop a new android phone on Verizon after they just spent all that money marketing the Droid as the new flagship android device for there company.

Releasing the Nexus in January would put a huge dent in Droid sales and the phone would only be 3 months old.

All the websites so far have been speculating that a Verizon version of the phone will drop later but for now Verizon is just gonna have to sit on the Droid for a few more months.

Tmobile on the other hand has been sitting on the G1 and Mytouch for a while now so releasing a new Android would not affect sales and most likely would instead have people with g1s or Mytouch upgrading to the Nexus.

Google is going to want to distribute this phone through retail channel's, and since it will be supported on T-Mobiles unique 1700mhz 3G band you better believe that T-Mobile will be there to help distribute. So if you can buy the phone at a T-Mobile store you will be able to purchase this with their Even More Plus plan and their Equipment Installment Purchase plan.

I dont think there is any way that google will sell it at $199. Its hard to imagine that they could make up the $400 or so they would be losing on each phone without having a contract for a service of some kind on it.

You're answer is as good as mine man! I can't see what's so special about it either. I'm actually starting to think that there ISN'T anything special about it. I think it's going to be an Android Developer Phone just like the past two (Dream and Magic) and it can be bought from Google if you're a developer and used on T-Mobile. There really isn't any solid news on that part yet. But I'm with you, it doesn't sound like a game changer, by any means, to me yet.

Maybe because Tmobile is the smallest (subscribers and coverage) of the national carriers? Tmobile doesn't offer 3g in my area even though its the state capitol. Hence why would I want a phone to be released on a network that doesnt offer 3g where I live? Verizon on the other hand has a good portion of the country under 3g coverage and their customer support is ranked high and hence more people can take advantage of a new phone.

But was the Imagio something else on another carrier? The Eris may have been the third Hero, but it was updated slightly with a proximity sensor and better firmware. So yeah VZW has gotten better on getting the new stuff. On top of that though they seem poise to be the only carrier operating every major cell OS by years end (BB, Android, WebOS, Apple).

Tell me what I made up. Okay, I'll give you Sprint. But that makes 2 CDMA carriers compared to how many WORLDWIDE GSM carriers? Don't worry, I'll wait for you to count. Travel? LMAO AGAIN! Try going overseas with your VZW phone. BB Storm? LM(MF)AO! Crapola. Who else wanted it? Droid? Nothing new. I was actually referring to how VZW acts like ANDROID is something new. People had 2.0 on the rooted G1 before the Droid was even released, anyway. 2.0.1 too. I'm not a fanboi either; I've used VZW, TMO, and AT&T; i like certain things about all of them.
