Wrong thread. This is a Samsung Galaxy S thread.

Anyway, I believe the battery need conditioning. Meaning, drain the battery (like playing games) and then charge it to the full. You may need to do this 3-4 times before you are getting good battery life.

I have two of my friends who bought that phone, no complaint :D

Guys,

I need help on how to get android market on my Galaxy S which I recently upgraded to Android 2.2. The phone was brought from UAE where apparently these deveices get blocked for Android market.
There is a way to get the Android Market App unblocked but for Android 2.1 and the same trick does not work for 2.2. Any advice? suggestion or help with this please?

Is anyone using Vodafone connection on android ?

I heard that it is not possible to log in to Google (g mail, g chat etc) on vodafone connection as no gprs settings available. One cannot access the market without this isn't it ?

I called vodafone customer care and they also confirmed that gprs setting for android has not yet out.

I was thinking of buying Galaxy S tomorrow, but after hearing this im in a dilemma ss i use a vodafone connection and not ready to change the company for this.

Experts, is there any work around for this as i do not want to buy and regret it later

I'm using Vodafone, and GPRS/Edge works fine. You need to get the Vodafone Mobile Connect activated, it has a monthly charge of 199. Its surprising that the customer care guys said that it's not supported. It takes around 48 hours for VMC to get activated, they will also send you the APN settings. I've heard that the Vodafone live doesn't work very well with Android, but Vodafone Mobile Connect is perfect.

To get Vodafone Mobile Connect activated, send ACT VMC199 to the Vodafone customer care (111 in bangalore), otherwise talk to the customer care and specfically ask for Vodafone Mobile Connect.

I guess you are talking about Post paid. Im on prepaid and there's nothing like plan for it. The charges depends on usage - 10Ps for 10 Kb.
I guess its high time for me to shift to Post paid

Can anyone tell me what does these jargon's mean ? sounds wayy too technical

Rooting
unrooting
Brick
Cynogenmod
ROM (in a cell phone??)
custom rom
lagfixing
OCLF
ODIN
3-button combo
Astro
voodoo lag

I am on airtel. Rs300 for 6 months (prepaid). That works out to be just Rs50/month

3G is coming - so they say - at the same rate. 3G connection on the phone for Rs50/month. Great deal isn't it?

No way dude;knowing Airtel, it would be really steep. (Maybe for Rs 50, we'll have 100 MB download limit!!)

Airtel gives 2GB limit. I use an average 500-600MB/month. One of my friends easily use all 2GB.

Yeah, I know. I am using the same plan.
I was talking about 3G. I would be really suprised (and very happy :)) ) if Airtel releases a 3G plan for Rs 100 (preferably 1 GB Download limit), but I kind of doubt it looking at Docomo rates :(

I assume it is not available after long press on homescreen - the same way if you want to change wallpaper?

I am sure it was on the market. Now it's gone. Anyway, it is always available in it's xda-developers thread

The link for the apk is attached in that first post

For Z4 Root, it available here. The apk is also attached in the first post.

OCLF has z4root included. Open the OCLF app and you will see "Root Device using z4root". Just click on it.

Click on "Install ext2 tools" as well. Yes, this is actually multiple clicks lag fix !

wow i have rooted and applied one click lag fix, and my sgs with froyo is flying... i done the benchmark and first time it showed 1869 and second time it showed 2006 points.

previously it maxed 982, it has more than doubled the performance by benchmark software Quadrant standard.

i am very happy, only thing i want to know how is my battery going to respond and how long it is going to be hold on.

FYI - iused z4root to root the phone and used Rayans oneclicklag fix.

cheers

Thanks for your email, i have sorted out the issue.

the issue is the .apk file has been counted as hacking file by Kasperesky antivirus, so it disinfect teh file which wont run.

so disable any antivirus software, move the apk to phone and install it works.

i like ot see minifree once i see how the battery is responding to the speed.

cheers

Quadrant score don't really mean much. People who are using real lag fix are registering lower quadrant score but is way smoother than OCLF.

Anyway, congratulations on your first hacking!

so which other standard can be used to check the phones performance?
