Well that's what another retailer in Delhi informed me short while back. Some issues between distributors and HTC. However, what he told me was that these issues were pertaining to the pricing of the DHD in India. Maybe the distributors wanted higher margins etc... just keeping fingers crossed that it gets launched soon, else will be traveling abroad later in the month and will pick it up from there.

1. Say I am playing few songs on the speaker of DHD, can I listen the song clearly with 10-15 meters distance or say can I listen the ring-tone of DHD from another room ?

1. It all depends on the environment you're in.. i mean if you're alone in the adjacent in the next room watchin tv or smthn.. u will hear it.. atleast i do.. the loudspeaker could have been better tbh... but it is not as bad as people say it is...

2. DLNA to PC i have tried and it works.. but to the TV.. i'm sry i dnt have a DLNA device to pair the DHD with the TV...

3. I have the offline maps.. the directions are pretty ok considering the huge network of roads in mumbai... the maps tell you all the major road names and highways.. but when it comes to small lanes which are there everywhere it is not very good.. but if maps begin to incorporate that.. the map size for india will be in gigabytes i'm afraid.. the locations does not always pin point the exact location.. smtyms it is accurate to 500m smtyms to 1000m.. that i feel is more of a network issue rather than a fone issue...but i can live with it.. maps is not smthin i use that often and dat is not the only part for which i got the phone..

the major let down i would say is the networks and not the fone.. it is sad to say it but the fone will be utilized to its full capacity only when 3G services are launched at full go.. that's when the real fun will begin with all these maps and everything... i have heard it will happen by the 1st quarter of next here.. keepin my fingers crossed :)

dunno about DHD.. but the desire Z is available in mumbai for around 28K...
 
The price of DHD is dropping everyday on expansys.The price is very attractive with all the freebies...only small issue abt the warranty....I am gonna wait till 25th Dec...I m expecting the price to drop further on expansys considering the festive season...lets hope till then it will release in india

Right :rolleyes:. When HD7 and Desire Z (not-officially-launched smartphones are in India) are popping-up at HTC retail outlets & with Christmas (New Year around) - it makes sense to wait for few days. Also, since early December I think demand-supply gap for DHD has been improving as clearly indicated by DHD's stock availability on UK expansys website (could be due to Nexus S launch ;)).

I was very hesitant to wait to order DHD from expansys & had filled out all credit card details on the payment page of expansys for DHD at least 6 times, and then always backed out :D. I am going to wait for few more days :(.

PS - God, why Nexus S doesn't have FM/Radio. :mad: Any other limitations of Nexus S ?
 
a dealer told me in pune that HD7 is officially available now...guys any news on DHD and DZ yet ?

HD7 is available with bill around 28K-29K, seems like when DHD be launched it be around this....any guesses ?

Actually .. I will believe you but why there is no buzz in the market ? a 4.3" giant smartphone should create waves in news in India but .. :(
 
but I dont fancy WM 7 now....I believe HTC should have a launch show similar to other countries to market their new devices specially DHD and DZ, guess HTC dealers are also crap in india ...

I will need help from those who had bought Desire Z grey market from india:
1) did u get a box packed ?
2) was the phones seem used ?
any more of ur exp pls ?

Since today was Sunday and was kinda free, I made up my mind to hunt for the DHD.

I am based in Bangalore and I had a friend(classmate) who has a mobile store here.

So, I bugged him to find out any news about the DHD. After sometime, he got back to me and told me that the stock is in the warehouses. But there are two things that the HTC and the distributers are fighting about at the moment.

1.) The price of the DHD is not fixed. Coz in varies parts of India different distributers have got a quotation or invoice with different price or MRP.

2.) The HTC guys want to send their team to upgrade the software to 2.3 on the purchase of the DHD on the spot during the purchase and not with the package(hope that made sense). So they have held off the launch to prepare the team.

But for me this was not convincing so I again bugged or rather begged my friend for the HTC distributer in Bangalore. After hours of begging and bugging, I went to the addressed area and called the distributer telling him that I was a mobile store owner and wanted to get franchise and the usual lying.

Then slowly I started enquiring about the DHD.

To my surprise, he showed me the cargo that had the DHD. Unbelievable but I went close by to check. The cargo was all covered in wooden cases and tightly sealed and were from china and it was authentic HTC logo and stuff. The label read "HTC DESIRE HD A9191 - Android 2.2 (FROYO)".

On seeing this the devil in me kinda acted upon to open the box and take one and run. HAHAHAHAHAHA.

But I asked him if he could open and show me since it was all locked up and kept(rather nailed).

He refused coz he might forfeit his commission on the good by HTC if they find out the unofficial sale.

But damn guys I was in fit on seeing the goods.

So my hopes kinda is raised and waiting.

Hope I was helpful in this info and got my fellow DHD-ains some ray of hope.

Debate on price-issue is understandable but installation of 2.3 on DHD ? :eek: What is that ? :eek: Android 2.3 was released just 1 week back & it takes time to customize it and prepare it for the installation on a particular device, say DHD.

Whosoever told you about point 2 that HTC India is worried about installation of 2.3 is false. A company of HTC standards will rather worry for launching the DHD phone first & stop loosing their market share to Galaxy S/Milestone/Nexus S/N8. :p (2.3 can be installed later of course)

All right. Here is a good news and a bad news.

Good news is that I spoke to a HTC India official & I got official information about HD7 and DHD. This means below information (aka bad news) is authentic. I called up HTC India hotline (1800-1033-566) retail services and spoke to them for about 15 minutes.

I was told HD7 has been launched officially in India and the HD7 being sold in the Indian market is genuine. They said I should be able to get a HD7 anywhere between 25k-28k Rs. I forgot asking why they hadn't published HD7 on their website and in media. :(

Upon querying on DHD, the lady (Shweta - HTC customer representative) admitted that DHD's official launch was on 10th December but however due to price issues, it could not be launched on 10th December. She said that expected launch of DHD is in the last week of December 2010.:mad: (stop searching for bad news, pls :()

Well, I clearly explained her that because of absence of official information from HTC regarding the launch dates of DHD, HTC is losing business to N8/GalaxyS/Nexus S, and DHD fans are also losing faith in HTC India. She said, because of the ongoing price issues of DHD, they find it difficult to publish on website about the official launch date of DHD (she said - what if something goes wrong and they are unable to launch on the annouced official date). She also told me the expected price of DHD could be between 30k-32k Rs. :)

I wanted to ask her if I can speak to any higher authority of HTC India in retail section but realised I spoke to her about 15 minutes, I didn't do that.

I would say, pick your phone and talk to HTC people on the toll-free number (1800-1033-566). Try to dig out more information about DHD launch and make them realise that this is high time they at least hang up a notice on their website 'DHD coming soon'. :mad: Also, please ask if they can take pre-order for DHD and directly deliver to us & at what price they will deliver us (I know this is highly unlikely but trying "never" harms)!!

She expressed her and HTC's "inability" to control the situation. May be I will give them few more calls today & tomorrow.

PS - :rolleyes: Would like to see some informatiom from you folks which will encourage me to post more information from 2 or 3 calls which I will make today & tomorrow :D

Thanks Abhinavcs! That solves a major dilemma for me. Now I will wait. Till today I had no faith in the HTC Dealers here who were always saying they had no idea about the DHD launch date and price, at least now I know it will get launched soon in India

I still dont understand the hassle over the price, is it the dealers who want a bigger cut whereas HTC wants to introduce the phone in the market at a lower price or is it something else altogether?
 
I wrote to htc yesterday evening still waiting for a reply now...but its preety much clear now that the phone will be launched soon, seems like the dealers want to make a lot of profit out of this phone hence the price issue...as with HD7 seems not many gonna like it so they relesed as it is in india now

I will try giving call to the htc number also and wil bug them

any more info pls share here guys

and yeah seems like we should wait for few more days now and buy it with bill and warranty in india :)
 
launch on Last week of dec, too late..hmmmmmmmm
I wrote to HTC on friday and got the reply now..same reply..please check HTC india website and if its there it is launched and if its not there it is not laucnhed..lol

And also I see price dropped to 37K on ebay from 43K.

Any update?.
 
I called the htc number, they told me last week of dec ... but reason they told me is stock is getting delayed ... why different reasons ???
