Help Will the unlocked HTC Desire HD work in India?

Hurry up, price has been reduced on expansys its now coming for 414.43 Euros = 29 608.5569INR only. and as per punk extra 2K and that means we can get this phone from UK in approximately 32K INR including freebies.

Should I wait or Should I go for it?.

HTC Deire HD or Nexus S?. Which one to pick?. Which is better considering every thing.

I would recommend you to go through the following link;

Google Nexus S vs HTC Desire HD vs iPhone 4 vs Samsung Galaxy S | News | TechRadar UK

You will need to decide what you want more in your phone, if you want an aluminium monolithic body, Sense, bigger screen go for Desire HD, if you are alright with plastic body but need the latest and greatest Android OS with additional features in the Nexus S like Gyroscope, NFC, more graphics power.

But I am sure that HTC will also release Android 2.3 Gingerbread on Desire HD someday in the future.

It all depends on your requirements just ensure what the most important thing/things for you is and go for the phone that gives you that thing/things ... :)

I am still up for the desire hd. Not a good experience with samsung

but the million dollar question is when is it getting launched......

I guess we need to wait till tomorrow 10th December if there is no announcement by HTC officially by then, then it is definitely fake news. iGyaan is definitely going to lose credibility, also I noticed all the other links posted this after iGyaan and Fonearena posted it and the wording for all of them is the same, so I think the others were just copy & pasting from these sites.

even if the 10th date is true news, it wont be shocking if it is delayed by even a week.

Agreed ... delays in such launches are quite common, but for some reason there is no chatter about this on the net, if HTC really intends to release the DHD in India they are keeping awfully quiet about it.

Also the price of the Nexus S seems to have gone up on ebay.in to 32,999 now, I would be interested in knowing a hands-on review of the Nexus S once you get it delivered and any extra charges other than the base price you had to pay when you get the phone

Exactly. +1. I just checked the HTC India website and no news at all. All the web-news about the 10th Dec launch was based on IgYaan and Fonearena links - fake news.

I will wait for Today and will order tomorrow on expansys. I think HTC Desire HD is the good pick because of its 32GB, 8 mega pixel camera, HTC Sense and metal body.

Me too. Very disappointed with HTC India (They have launched this phone all over the SE Asia but not India). They could have at least posted the launch news which may have helped them not loosing customers to Galaxy S or Milestone or N8.

I will order too within 1 or 2 days. What I will be missing in my order would be :( (no front facing camera for video calls - I can live without video calls easily, no indian maps - can get offline maps installed in HD and no indian warranty- well if something goes wrong - its bad luck will try with HTC India customer service if they can help me with paid services).

I want my smartphone for - surfing, big screen, entertainment, android, FM Radio, good camera. HD is probably one of the best smartphones for my requirement. :)

I don't know how reliable it is... but I had spoken to a HTC dealer in Delhi abt couple of weeks back n he had informed me the date as 9th or 10th dec. Later on, similar dates were posted by igyan etc on the net. Just spoke to him again n he said tht it would be launched in about 3-4 days as there was some issue with the importer through which HTC was importing in India. He however informed me the price is out n its at 33k. Just hoping that it gets released soon...HD7 was available with him now.

Hmm .. But in such case I would expect HTC India to at least say that they are going to launch DHD by mid Dec (a couple of weeks of delay is usually there). Trusting on a retailer - well, I don't know - am doubtful about it.

HD7 was available with him now.
What do you mean HD7 is available with him now ? Does he really knows the official retail prices ? Is he ready to sell you HD7 on reasonable price not the "grey-market-prices" :)

Well, they can take pre-orders and deliver to you when HTC India launches the phone. Question is when they will actually deliver the phone - 1 week or 1 month or ??

Btw, I just wrote a "not-so-nice-email" to IGyaan team and they replied back saying that HTC HD7 is available in market as rad304 said; IGyaan team also said there are some issues between HTC and distributors, hence the launch is getting delayed. IGyaan team also have got some more +ve news about DHD but they can't tell us. According to IGyaan team, DHD will be launched very soon. Let's see how it goes. :)

I just talked to one of the HTC dealers here in Pune and he informed me that he will be getting HD7 by Monday, but he is not sure of the DHD and said he may get it in 8 to 9 days more ...

Now I am really mad at HTC why do they think the HD7 will sell better than the Desire HD in India??? There some weird thinking going on at HTC decision makers. I just can't seem to understand their thinking.

+1. What's wrong with HTC India  ? Can any MBA guy come up with a product & marketing strategy (remotely possible strategy even) ?

btw, apart from software difference between HD7 and DHD, is there any hardware difference - say front facing camera or physical camera capture button ?

This is what I got from a site;

Here's a look at the hardware on the HTC HD7 Windows Phone 7. The new kickstand design that surrounds the rim of the camera and duel LED flashes is quite a unique feature and I like it a lot. The only thing that's disappointing is the buttons. The hardware buttons around the edge are very thin and difficult to press. They don't have much movement either, so it's hard to tell if you're pressing it correctly without looking at the screen. The HD7's formfactor is very similar to the old HTC HD2 and HTC Evo 4G.

The HTC HD7 is running a 1Ghz Snapdragon QSD8250 processor with 576Mb RAM, 512MB ROM, and 16Gb of storage. The 4.3" Super LCD screen has a 480x800 pixel resolution and 4 point multi-touch. You've also got WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, Assisted GPS, 5Mp camera with dual LED flash, 1230mAh battery, 3.5mm stereo headphone jack, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port.

The device dimensions are 68 x 122 x 11.2 millimetres, and it weighs 162 grams

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So looks like they have a 5 MP camera in place of 8 MP, HD7 does have a camera button, the kickstand is a good idea which they should have given in teh DHD as well.

guys.. please dnt tel me ur contemplating a win-mo phone over an android..

Punk (the first mighty owner of DHD in India :P) -

1. Say I am playing few songs on the speaker of DHD, can I listen the song clearly with 10-15 meters distance or say can I listen the ring-tone of DHD from another room ?

2. Have you tried the DLNA capability on your DHD - similar to this one - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbQ2FN9PtG8

3. Did you get a chance to download-install offline maps & get to evaluate DHD's GPS performance ?
