[RELEASED] The 4.3 inch "Thunderbolt" aka "Mecha" aka "Incredible HD" from HTC...beyond coming soon!

I was waiting for the Inc HD/Mecha to come out since my Droid 1 upgrade was available. Then the wifes old Samsung Rogue quit working and forced me to the VZW store and we couldn't resist the BOGO deals, so I got the Droid X and got the wife the Fascinate. The Droid X camera bump sucks! The screen is big, but not as nice as the Fascinate screen. (Fascinate didn't have the BOGO deal) Anyway, my receipt says that I have until Jan. 15th to return for the $35 restocking fee. We'll see if the Inc HD comes out by then. The Droid X virtual keyboard is nicer than the Fascinate's, but I think the thinner, lighter, sexier, and better screen more than trump a slightly better virtual keyboard.

If you can't wait for the Incredible HD/Mecha, I think you'd be really happy with the Fascinate.

I'd likely carry 5" screen size too if the bezel could remain small (Dell Streak's ends lip out a bit too much for a pocketable device I thought compared to the EVO).

I may still pick up an EVO this week with 30 day returnability but everytime I see its camcorder quality on youtube I become way less motivated (still no codec improvements it seems). I'd settle for the 720p quality of the Samsung galaxy handsets (surprisingly Nexus S however is not true 720p) but the audio-video capture of EVO continues to hinder.

I was hoping we'd hear more about Mecha's specs (Tegra2 possible?) +release date asap..:cool:

Well, BlackManX (engineer for VZW) has hinted to Valentine's Day timeline for the 4G model of this device (I think 3G will no loner happen). He did also say that the 4G Model he was testing did not have a HD display (probably has the same resolution of the EVO). He described it was a "Major Fail".

I'm hoping this EVOish device comes with some nice upgrades because a 2nd Generation Snapdragon processor will not cut it for a high end devices being released in 2011.

If this phone comes with the same screen as the EVO I'll stick with my Incredible. I am not impressed with the screen on the EVO at all also if it only comes with a 2nd gen snapdragon . I'll hold off till spring/summer, it's not like I'm unhappy with my Incredible it's the best phone I've ever owned

Has he ever commented on the Tegra 2 issue?
 
All this *nothing happening* is driving me out of my mind. I'm so tempted to succumb to the X because I need more RAM, more real estate, more online speed, and I need it NOW. I had such high hopes of getting this so called Incredible HD or Mecha or whatever the heck it's going to be called that I can't stand the thought of having to suffer through 2 or 3 more months of DELAYS.

I keep searching through Engadget and all the tech / Droid / Android forums, hoping to see some light somewhere, but I find nothing but dark disappointment. Flashing new ROMs on my OG is losing its appeal, fast.

Will there be anything with a 4.3" screen and dual Core in January, any guesses?

I feel ya. I too was hoping I would have been sporting the Mecha by now. I wanted a new phone NOW and the Mecha seemed like it fit all of my needs. I'm trying to look at the bright side now. If the Mecha was released, and I picked one up, I might have buyers remorse after CES in January.

Look to the next Generation of devices coming in January or February. I'm sure Verizon will have some new goodness for us come early 2011.
 
Just bought and paid for (right now as I type) a brand-new Dinc off eBay. Not wanting to extend my contract right now, this will get me through Q2 2011 and well into a great selection of LTE product.

The reason I chose the Incredible over the X is simple. While I prefer the larger screen of the X, I have to have a reliable earphone jack, and the jack on the X is at least as bad - if not worse - than the OG. Literally, I use my jack for multiple hours everyday, and obviously, after a year with my OG, I've had all I can stand of this problem.

The other reason (and equally important) is that I get the full benefit of rooting by going with the Dinc. And I can flash my favorite ROM - CyanogenMod.
 
Not a bad plan at all. I'm trying to find an X, or Fascinate on Ebay for less than $275...but not finding any (that's my price point for a "like new")...but even when I find something close...I just can't pull the trigger LOL.
 
So i just saw the verizon 4g lte commercial... can't waiting for it to say a specific phone... anything!!
All it said is available now??? WTF?!?!?!? LTE is available now?? ON WHAT?????

Good plan you'll be really happy with the Incredible it's an awesome phone . I use to use CM nightlies as my main ROM but about 6 weeks ago switched to MiUi and am set haven't even wanted to change to another ROM. It took me a couple days to get use to using folders instead of an app drawer but it is great now and it has weekly updates that keep getting better. When you get your Incredible you should give it a look

So i went to check this out at a local verizon store, and turns out that only certain people were sent that email and only those people can take advantage of that offer BUT this same promotion will be a new plan for everyone to use mid january. While i was there i asked about the Incredible HD to the manager at that store who is a very reliable source to me when phones are coming out and he did tell me that the Incredible HD is the next hottest thing coming out and will be 4G. He also told me that the phone will not be out until mid-january and will have a tegra 2 processor and hdmi output. So lets keep playin the waiting game.

you were not suppose to go to the store about it. call that number ONLY and they should set you up if you mention getting the email
