Root [ROM] ApeX 1.3.1 for Droid X - Running, running, as fast as it can (12/16/10)

Gallery is also only loading certain folders instead of all folders. They briefly have their name shown and then the name disappears upon scrolling and there is a huge gap in the gallery's folders.

:( it persists after a reboot. Sad.

I've had that happen, my WiFi would turn off automatically, my bluetooth would skip every 3 seconds when streaming media, my gallery isn't displaying folders correctly.....i think that's all so far lol, but damnit that's a lot! Oh, and the lock screen background being different from launcherpro background.

i know it may be more work than you want to do but doing a clean install may be needed as it wil work sometimes for some reason and did you wipe data cache on install?

First install gave wifi and bluetooth issues. So i then bootstrapped, wiped cache, dalvik, battery info, and did a wipe on data/cache as well for a second time and did an install again. Booted up and here is where I stand.

I've been plowing through this thread from where I left off last (apparently too many days have gone by dang it) and POW there's a new ROM and everyone's fully jacked up about it.

I'm ready to do the OTA update (says it's available) and upgrade from 1.0. *pulls on flame suit* Can someone give me the quick and dirty on the best approach to this process?

Here's what I'm thinking:

Bootstrap back to stock Froyo. Install OTA. Delete data and cache, re-root using 1-click, install ApeX 1.3 with GB nuggets of goodness.

Where might I be doing this wrong? TIA!

anyone get the "bmt" asop keyboard script to work? It just says "bmt not found" when I run it.

bmt is just an argument for the actual keyboard script. Thats how almost every single script included with the rom works, actually.

So instead of typing:

su
keyboard
bmt

It's actually:

su
keyboard (to see all the options)
(then choose the desired option, in this case:)
keyboard -bmt

Works the same for messaging, email, alarm, carhome, etc. etc.

Found a bug; it may be from .340, but it may also be from this ROM. I'm going to guess the latter though, because for the few days I had stock .340, I don't recall this happening. With Messaging, if somebody starts a conversation, their picture won't show up in that small window next to the text. If you initiate the conversation though, the picture appears as normal.

I seem to be having a similar issue although I don't get the contact picture even when I initiate the conversation.

The AOSP (default) messaging app only shows pictures if they're synced with Google, so if all your photos are from Facebook synced via Blur, it won't show up.

The easy solution is to use the Blur messaging app, which can be enabled in terminal emulator with:

su
messaging -mot

Since I prefer the AOSP app, I just sync my Facebook pics with Google using the app, SyncMyPix

This is exactly what I just got through doing. same setup as you and followed the path you stated. Worked great.
Only difference is I rooted then format data and cache.

Thanks Fab!

Ok went through the process above and got the BMT keyboard. Don't like it. Tried to get WMT and GB keyboard but seem to be stuck with BMT. Any suggestions.

A big issue I have is the gps. It will not find my location without wifi on in location settings and also puts me about 1000 feet away from where I actually am.

Do you have aGPS turned on? I just got a lock in 10 seconds inside my house on the bottom floor.

Yeah need GPS on to lock bro.

I normally have it off (unless I need it which is rare). When its on, it gets a lock to within 6-8 meters.

With it off (normal for me) it gets to within 2800 meters.

Thank you for this. I hadn't even noticed that the messaging app had changed after I had flashed to 1.3. I've never been a fan of the message bubbles in the Moto app so this works perfect.

Are there any undervolt scripts in this build? I had the ULV 1000 mhz running perfectly and my phone would last me... forever it seemed like.

Anyway, just let me know what I can do to replicate that. Other than that though, this ROM is almost absolutely perfect other than the GB keyboard still has a few glitches that need worked out. :D I'm in love, Fab. Thanks for all the hard work you've put into this. <3 you.

Also, I think you should add this to the ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780828

It works perfectly, and honestly, should be in Android from the get go!

Is there a benefit to updating to this newest kernel when using Apex 1.3? This is from the TBH set of patches?

2.3.340 Kernel Updater (2.6.32.9-g55626e1)

I updated to the latest kernel from the TBH release and it's running fine. It may well be my imagination but my phone is so friggin smooth and fast now, I feel like the new kernel added to that - nothing measured, just feels like it stutters less.

edit: to clarify, it was super smooth and fast using the kernel I got from the SBF and installed ApeX on. Updating the kernel just appeared to improve it slightly - but it could be my imagination.
