Root [ROM] ApeX 1.3.1 for Droid X - Running, running, as fast as it can (12/16/10)

Hi Guys,
Sorry to be such a Noob. I have installed the ApeX_V1_3_0Goodies1.zip using Clockwork recovery and that seemed to install fine at bootup, but now back in the OS I can't see anywhere to launch it or make use of it. Can anyone help me on what I am missing? Thx, Jon

There is nothing to launch. If installed correctly battery % should be displayed in the status bar and when adding a widget you should have access to the widget picker (providing you have widgets that have multiple choices ie: beautiful widgets).

Thanks Neil, I actually used the su install command to install the widget picker and I now see that as a choice when tying to add a new widget to the home screen.
I then went and rebooted and reapplied the goodies.zip file and that seems to have made the battery status indicator now correctly show the percentages.

Thank You!!,
Jon

Yeah need GPS on to lock bro.

I normally have it off (unless I need it which is rare). When its on, it gets a lock to within 6-8 meters.

With it off (normal for me) it gets to within 2800 meters.

I have all three boxed checked and calibrated compass. Its saying im almost a half mile away now.

Why do people honestly think that they are going to pull one over on everybody? With the community that Android has there is always someone out there that will spot the fakes.

Quick Question.... so I have been on Apex 1.3 and am loving it. BUT, today i got a message that said "update download failed". So I went into settings > phone info > check for updates...And it says "Update is currently being downloaded, will notify you when download of update is complete".

Anyone else have that? is there an update supposed to come out?

I love this rom, but there seems to be one issue and I don't know if it's been covered here yet or anyone else has the problem. My contacts do not show up if I launch the contacts app in the app drawer. They show up in my contacts if i am in dialer, they are available when added people to emails/sms/etc..., they are even all showing up if I add a "folder" on one of the home screen and have it be the "All Contacts" folder. I came from sbf'd 2.3.15, then OTA'd to 2.3.340, then did the bootstrap reboot, wipe data/cache, etc... and it seemed to work fine, but that is the only issue I have.

I just updated my kernal to the TBH one and had to wipe data to get it to reboot. D'oh! Can I just restore the backup that I did right before I applied the zip or do I have to go through the whole sync process to get my apps back and then redo all of my screens?

This is what I've been working on this morning, did the same thing, boot loop until wipe data, no problem there. Then restored, boot loop, wipe data again, restored the overclock app from titanium, boot loop. Now sbfing and starting over. Hopefully I don't fubar that up.

Guess I should have just well enough alone, it was running so perfect!

Edit: sorry this is kind of a hijack, this has nothing to do with Apex 1.3 :)

If you had an overclock module installed, that probably caused it. It modifies the kernel in memory, and since it's a new kernel...

Hmmm, that is strange, I had mine overclocked, installed the new Apex, overclocked it and then updated the kernel version without any problems at all.

1.0.2.2 ran great on my phone with a 1.1 oc applied and autokiller at strict. 1.3 has a little lag, but autokiller smooths it out for the most part. tried jrummys oc app but it would reboot my phone everytime i would select a new setting. so i refunded and maybe or maybe not fab will get terminal commands in. either way, i am happy with this rom. will be donating. what a great job, and what a helpful guy.

Hmmm... that's strange.

I just let it re-install all of my apps from the Market instead of restoring. I'll go through and restore app data from TIBU later on an app by app basis. I've found that restoring backups can tend to make things act funny sometimes.

loving this ROM so far. first try at a custom rom on my x. 6-pack donated (i hope that doesn't screw up the next build). questions (2):

i noticed right away that i didn't (seem to) have a unified email inbox, so i followed the directions successfully to get the blur one back.

1. the blur texting part of the blur messaging application seems to just crash and not work. i installed handcent to cover that need and it works fine. is that expected?

2. i didn't even investigate the aosp messaging application before switching back, but now i see some prefer it. can it unify a few email accounts for me (one POP/SMTP from my Bresnan ISP, one yahoo and one gmail)? if so, i would like to give it a try (every time i remove a blur element, i hallucinate that my phone is running more smoothly). how can i switch back? just run the messaging script? do i need to do those other commands regarding "restoring the universal inbox" or something related to that? thanks!

I'm going to give it another go, got the sbf done and if nothing else this just helps me get more comfortable with all this.

I've learned so much the last few weeks, info overload, I was just saying the other day I should have wrote all this down as my own changelog lol I know I've done stuff, now just need to retrace my steps :)
