Help Doing something wrong with taking Pic's or Video?

I have the same problem. When i use flash it makes the picture way to bright to the point a dark room becomes a white light. Hope someone answers ur post im curious what settings should be.

1. Cell cameras are nice to have, but they cannot take the place of a legit camera. The lenses and processors are just better. If you buy a phone thinking it can take the place of a real camera, you're probably going to be disappointed.

2. MP count doesn't equal quality, it equals ability to maintain quality at larger size prints. Set the camera back to 6MP. You may have some better results. I didn't like the highest quality setting quality, plus they take up a lot more memory. I even do this with my real cameras.

3. I have also had better luck with Steady Shot, but in low light, it just won't take great pictures. In good lighting (daylight, overhead, etc) it takes great pictures (for a phone).

For me in good light the camera takes awesome pictures. Having the capture button on the screen helped a lot.

But overall i think you need to make sure if its daylight put the camera into auto or steady shot. Adjust the iso and exposure if its grainy in daylight.

the time mine gets grainy is low light. So what I do in that situation is put it on steady shot or something then go into iso and turn it down to about 200 or so but play around with it and you it should clear up in the view finder. Also play around with the exposure too.

Seems everyone's cameras are a little different and you really have to play around with the settings.

FYI, its not all about the megapixels. its more about the type of sensor your camera is using. obviously, a 6 MP digital camera will show better results than a 8 MP camera phone.

That being said, the DX does not perform well when taking pictures in dark lit conditions. So no, your photos will not turn out that great inside a dimly lit restaurant, or at a club venue where light is scarce.

I would recommend a 3rd party camera application (Vignette for instance) where you can further tweak settings on your own.

I tend to shoot in well lit places, limited to 100 ISO. The lower the ISO, the less grainy your photos will be.

For instance, I took this photo in a well lit store (Walgreens, white lights)
In my opinion, the photo shown below is a decent 8MP camera phone shot. Its been compared already, however. The iPhone4 does have a better sensor, therefore it can take better pictures than the DroidX.

OK I just read through this thread and hopefully someone can tell whats is has been going on with the sizeing issue I have been having and have been asking all over this forum and different forums whith no answer. The issue is when I first posted my pics I saw must everybody elses where enlarged without any effects to quality unlike mine which when I uploaded to photobucket and tried to resize them to the size you have on your pics it would effect the quality.

Heres are all the pics I posted yesturday and new ones I took.

Someone told me to take off the 5.3 widescreen since it was turned on and they told me to take it off. I did and tried taking new pics and seeing the results. The pictures did come out a bit bigger. Before they were like most of the sizes that people took in this thread.

But when I tried resizing them in photobucket the quality would be effected which makes no sense since 8m enough to make a huge poster whith amazing quality.
There was also people with much bigger pics like yours and really want to find out how you do resize the pics or how people are posting bigger stock size pics from their phone onto photobucket without resizeing.

The size I want is the sizes you have.

The ones I had resized and made as big as photobucket let me would look like this.

I want to know what the hell is going cuz this is making really angry and tried to find a solution all day yesturday whith absolutley nothing. Iam guessing they arent using photo bucket to enlarge the pictures but I saw you did use photo bucket so again what the hell is going on.

And Also wanted to know whats going on with my upload to youtube in 720p through the Qik app I recorded this vid in 720p today and my settings on youtube are saying hq if available which it should be but it wont give me the ability to see it in 720. I dont understand what is the problem when I have seen others people Evo vids in 720 thanks allot.

Udate from last night I just read you have upload 720p through wifi so Iam going to try that and see if that works.

What settings is the camera using, I.e., what scene?

Those pics were taken on high quality, with the 5.3 widescreen, and 8mp

I took these with the 4.3 normal with the same high quality and 8mp and I dont have any setting called scene like the steady shot you were talking about where is that.

Same stupid size which should be just as big as these other huge pictures that look amazing and I still havent gotten one person that understands why my pics are having this ******ed plroblem thats the one of the whole points to have a 8mp camera.

When using the camera, there is a small black triangle on the right of the screen. Pull it towards the middle of the screen. At the top is a block that says "Scenes".

Your talking about the drop down menu which can also be looked at by pressing menu and its white arrrow. Thats where the settings are and I dont have anything that says Scenes what phone do you have Iam on an Evo.

If you have an Evo then why are you posting in the Droid X forum?

You do know that they both have the same camera components and interal hardware and are basically the same phone except for the out design of the phone right and also becuase I have yet to get answer for something that should be very complicated.

OK Udate from Last night I was finally able to upload 720p the problem was I was using the Qik app to uplaod the video which for some reason even on Wifi will not upload it in 720p which of course adds another disapointment to the long list of disapointments from Qik.

okay, then it is a software issue. Have you tried any of the camera apps in the market to see if something changes?

That would make sense but there are other people who are uplaoding from the Photobucket app and uplaoding the pics directly from their phone with no problem. What type of camera apps are you talking about ones that add effects or a different photo sharing one. I figured I would try picasa and see if that works. I downloaded picasa and that was the same thing and Picasa sucks since they dont eve provide a proper embeding code. But what I really dont understand its says the dimensions are 3264

Its possible this was already mentioned, and may be a stupid question, but have you cleaned off the lens? It looks to me as if your lens glass is smudged. I've taken some crappy looking pictures before and didn't realize why until I turned the phone over and saw that the camera lens glass had fingerprints and an oily film on it. Cleaned it off and it worked great. I hope you figure out whatever the problem is!

I was just getting ready to post that. I've found my fingers tend to end up on the lens so occasionally (not often enough) I wipe it off with a microfiber cloth.

OK finally got the problem fixed and it was all Photobucket. Only took 6 days turns out which I figured it was in the account setting and the upload setting had to be switched to a larger size which before it used to be right next to the upload tab and they changed it. So here are the pics of my Mystic Cobra the day I detailed the engine bay in the sizes they should be have been since day one
