I noticed a few similar titled threads to this have already been posted, but what the heck.

I love my Desire, its totally exceeded my expectations, my fear was always that I'd end up not understanding how to do things or be just disappointed generally (like I was with my Samsung Omnia) how wrong I was. Its all so simple and easy

But for me the icing on the cake is this forum. Every time I come in here I learn something new. A great atmosphere too and top guys willing to help uncoditionally. This is a great place and its something HTC should not take for granted (not that they do) for them being a head of the curve in the smart phone market.

Technical support, advice and recommendations 24/7?

No wonder we are all happy bunnies:D
 
I've been lurking for a while but not posted. I agree, some fantastic help in this forum and helped me no end.

Also plenty of Leeds fans, so was always going to be top drawer

It's a rare thing to find a forum where the norm is to offer help and assistance, far too many result in instant insults whenever you aks a "noob" question.

I agree this is a more friendly forum, I tend to be on here and XDA more often that not. XDA is a greater resource for ROMs and the like but can be a bit aggressive at times. The issue with n00b questions is there's nothing wrong with asking them but forums do have a search function and as we were all n00bs once the answers are more often than not a quick search away.

Repest questions, especially if recently answered, do get my goat tho!!
 
EddyOS, I agree that people should search in the first instance but the problem sometimes if you are a Noob like me is that I don't always know enough to even know where to start the search! Thus I might search for a given term when the subject has been dealt with already elsewhere!

However I do agree with the general thrust of this thread which is that this forum is a great resource. I've had the Desire for over 6 months now so have played with it a lot and know much of what it can do. Even so, whenever I come on this forum I nearly always find out so new tip or trick, so thanks to all the experts who post and help us mere mortals :)
 
I think it would be good to get some sort of format to asking/answering issues, tagging posts with key words, etc. so that searching yields better results because even now when I do search for something it still takes a fair bit of reading to actually find what I was looking for. I guess this is just the nature of forums

That does happen. When I was a guide, we were asked to do this. Sometimes at the bottom of a thread, you will see this. But it doesn't happen on most posts.

Just found out you can tag your own threads. I just added tags to this:

Look right down at the bottom, under the DIGG, Stumbleupon Bar etc.
 
Of course new posters with questions aren't going to be tagging their answered posts. I guess its sort of down to us to tag posts that answer what we think are frequently asked questions...

Well its the Guides, but there are too many posts to manage since its such a manual process.
 
great idea to have a thread about this. Just gives us the place to give public thanks to anyone who's helped me (i've needed quite a bit here and there). There's always the thanks button as well which some forget...
 
I couldn't agree more. The guys on this forum have helped me so much, if it wasn't for this forum I wouldn't know the first thing about customizing my Desire.
 
I have also been helped so much by you lot. I'm now trying to pass on my limited knowledge too.

I only knew two things before I joined this forum;

1. Be Polite
2. Never eat yellow snow

Now, I can swm, ride a bike, make cakes, everything!
 
Cakes are uasually made by ladies in a kitchen. Again it's always best to be polite to this particular species, although suggesting that yellow snow shouldn't be eaten is met with a range of responses. None of which are repeatable here!
