Root [ROM] ApeX 1.3.1 for Droid X - Running, running, as fast as it can (12/16/10)

Any idea why the weather widget (reinstalled from the removed apps zip) shows the wrong location (only off by a few miles?) It never did that when the phone was stock. I've tried clearing the cache for the widget and the location is good in maps. Otherwise, this ROM is brilliant!

ok. say i put files on my SD card. then do the above in terminal. how do i set the overclock? do i need something else?
it will be applied after you make your selections through terminal ,the only thing you may want to do is set the scaling and for that you can use set cpu

Without the GPS turned on, you're only gonna get a "close" location determined by WiFi or mobile network. Turning on the GPS will give you a more accurate location but drain the battery faster. It's a trade-off that you'll find with any phone regardless of the ROM.

I have the GPS on al the time. I still get the same wrong location.

So I love this Rom and installed the Circle Battery icon from earlier in the thread... but I also would like a larger 3G/1X service status icons....

Anyone know how to do this?

I have been modifying some 3G icons for that same reason, I have some (I use ninjamorph it works quite well, to apply these icons/pictures, in the market), I can give you the link and modify some of my others also, I am trying to get most of the tron theme icons into this and modify some that just do not look good but overall most of the tron theme stuff looks absolutely great!

Great rom. :)

I admit I haven't read all 15 pages of this thread, but I'm having issues with Handcent. I did the messaging -mot command in terminal emulator, but I can't get Handcent to notify properly in the notification bar. Also, the pop up window isn't working.

Also, the 3G icon is really tiny, a bit hard to read for my older eyes lol. ;)

Was just going to post the same thing ^

P.S. great work as usual, and I love the microbes LWP.

you can either manually replace the files which is pretty much drag and drop the one you want into the theme you are modifying or for an easier solution you can go to droidpirate.com and they have all sorts of icons with instructions and this would be through an application called metmorph thats free in the market

Fab,

is there a way to manually input vsel in the overclock script you provided? I took a look through it and I could only find being able to set it low, med, high etc. I'd like to be able to tweak the numbers individually as easy as possible.

I'm currently OC'd through Milestone @ 1300MHz, 61vsel. As far as I can tell, I can only set the max vsel, and not the min vsel (when on demand is set to a lower hertz) through that program, and I'd love to remove Milestone and use this script instead. Less apps on the phone; the better :p

Is there a way to adjust the vsel manually per level of On Demand through your script?

What kind of battery use is everyone getting with no overclock?

On a typical day I may text a couple dozen times, surf the web a little, play a little angry birds for maybe 15 mins, talk on the phone for 20-30 mins, etc.

My phone comes off the charger at 6AM and by 10-11PM I am at about 30% and the battery bar is now orange.

Does that appear typical?

Doug

No this is not typical for Apex. When I am not overclocked I can got through a normal day (I would say my usage is similar to you, a lot more texts and emails and a little less calls) and I can make it through the end of the day with about 20% left (6 am to 10pm). Overclocked and undervolted I can make it through a normal day at 40%.

That sounds like his usage. 6am to 10 or 11pm.

I'd say that's probably pretty typical. An entire day of normal usage should be no problem. I have the extended battery and can get through an entire day of heavy usage.

So if my battery performance is subpar, what would you recommend doing?

I always have bluetooth, GPS, and wifi turned off unless I use them. My screen brightness is around maybe 30%?

Doug

Sorry I misread this, too early in the morning on a Friday for me. I was thinking 10 to 11 am. Opps

Yes that would seem to be normal usage.

Sorry!

Kev, what settings do you suggest in the new overclock script for battery life? Not too experienced with overclocking...
