Hey, just went to the Digital World shop and he showed me a box packed DHD (a gray market one) and let me play around with it. You were right, they have no stock, but they were taking everyone's name as they were pretty sure they are going to get stock on Sunday evening or Monday.

I will probably get my DHD on either Monday or Tuesday.

The phone is just a dream come true, amazingly responsive to touch, nice camera, great synaptic feedback to the onscreen keyboard, very nice multi touch effects. There was a problem with the portrait to landscape mode change, it took a bit of time to move from portrait to landscape and is not as smooth as expected, but I guess that will go away after some use.

But I just loved the phone and am definitely buying it next week. The price they are saying will be around 26500/- to 27000/-

On a side note, I also got to see a Dell Streak there and it has an even bigger screen than the DHD, but if you hold it up to your ear for phone calls it just looks like you are holding a brick to your ear. I had thought that holding the DHD to the ear would be a problem for me, but the 4.3" screen is ok, but the Dell just looks and feels ridiculous when you hold it to your ear.
 
Bought mine at hyderabad for 26500/-
Still fiddling around with it :p

Got a HD7 screen guard applied on it till perfect ones are available
 
wonderful, the price is awesome....

I think its a matter of shipment and it should be available to all retailers in a day or 2...holidays are delaying the shipment seems

My DHD screen looks nothing like the DHD on that vid, It looks more like the Desire Z.

No matter what angle or distance I look at my DHD from the screen is infintely times better than the video shows.

Definitely, No doubt about it, To me it looks as though they have done something to the DHD's screen on purpose to make it look worse, Why or even if they would do that I don't know, But that video is nowhere near a true representation of the DHD's screen.
 
well unless u see a vid of any screen on a very HD video 1080p preferrable then you cannot really make out its quality, always our eyes are the best judge :)
 
gr8 hey can you tell us one thing

if u goto settings -> sdcard and phone memory -> check what is the free storage under internal storage...it should be the last one

and did it come with 8gb sdcard ?
 
Mine shows 0.89GB of free internal storage, I think I have a few apps though that wont transfer to the SD card yet so they're sitting in the phone memory, Mine only came with a 2GB SD card from 3 which is kind of rubbish, Good job I had a spare 16GB lying around.

I am sorry for asking this but are you sure that the fone u have is the original DHD from HTC (and not from gray market)? I have been downloading tons of apps since last weekend. Didn't bother about shifting most of them to SD. I still have 0.91 GB of internal memory left (I guess it was a little more than 1 GB when I bought it). And I think it says on the HTC site that it includes an 8 GB class 4 SD card.

Btw, this might make some others who have been waiting a little more crazy.

Just got an OTA system update from HTC for my DHD. After the install (which took about 10 mins),

1. Phone is about 20% faster/ snappier \m/
2. No lag in 720p HD Recording. Looks way better now too. Need to compare pic quality improvement. \m/\m/
3. Battery has improved almost threefold. Earlier, without doing anything, I used to burn 3% in an hour. Now, in the last one hour, I guess I burnt less than 1% (the no. on BattStat hasn't changed yet) \m/\m/\m/

Now, I guess the phone inched closer to perfection. Bring the 2.3 baby and you have a 10.

Btw: there have been reports from others (XDA forum) that there have some problems while installing it. I was lucky though. So, if you haven't downloaded it yet, go through the forum to understand the best way to do it. One thing is to shut off 'Sync All/ Auto' b4 downloading/ installing update.

Yes it is a real DHD made by HTC, The 3 network always changes things, Sometimes for the better sometimes for the worse but it's never anything major, When I got my old SE Satio from them I got an 16GB sd card when I think oficially you only get an 8GB with it.


Also the phone has 1.5GB of internal storage in total.
 
I believe cracksquirrel has got his phone in UK as 3 is there not in india ... and he is right when a phone is tied to any network they change some settings...

and by grey market, iamteja mean is it bought without bill and warranty, like most of us indian got DHD till now as it was not launched here, but grey market product by no means is a fake, will be always made by HTC

1.72.something - and the battstat indication has still not changed :).

Thanks, I understand now, 3 is an official mobile service provider here in uk, So it's all legit, Just sometimes they mess about with the accessories provided with the phone.

Also updated as soon as the update was available to me, Quite a few improvements.

The indian DHD should already have updated firmware out of the box,,should not be needed for an OTA for now, but in future HTC may release some OTA and yeah the most imp one android 2.3 OTA :) which everyone is waiting
