Help Will the unlocked HTC Desire HD work in India?

Hi cracksuirrel,

The update to 2.2.1 solves the issue of "lag on DHD with USB debugging turned OFF".

Before 2.2.1, the USB debugging was to be turned ON to avoid lag on DHD.

Correct me if my assumption is wrong.

Thanks.
Kumar.

I'm not sure to be honest, After the update my USB debugging was still on so I have just left it as it is, Haven't tried with it off, I have read a couple of people on xda forum say that they have turned it off and it seems to have been fixed but at the moment it seems to be only a small minority who have said it.

Nexus S not worth it
Same RAM n all as Galaxy S..
Same Lag issues...However nt as bad as SGS cos this doesnt have Touchwiz.
Confirmed this with my friend in USA too who bought it n returned it...
New OS but then it might get boring later on :)
No HTC Sense UI which i so loveeeeeeee !!
And if one still wants that boring interface...DHD is gonna get it soon...read it in news somewer...

Only good things if considered n subjectively liked are :
1. U can sing Allo allo to it :) when u buy it...i tho am singing the same song fr DHD too
2. SAMOLED screen with brilliant color saturation and better angled views
3. yeah thats abt it..Gingerbread is gonna be coming to all phones sooon..so that nt even an advantage..
4. Unlike many i liek the light feeling of the SGS n hence Nexus S but then...cant complain abt my DHD cos its an ounce heavier :p

SAMOLED - saving grace. But still (personally) no match for the DHD.

Why DHD and not Dell Venue ? Say, if both are available at same price, then in Dell Venue you get SAMOLED screen (bright, vibrant colors, less battery requirement). DHD is 0.2 inch bigger - that's all.

definately very good specs of Dell Venue...the pricing will be interesting to note, if it is priced sub 24-25k then should be a hit

for me personally DHD is the way to go for now :)

its not the question of screen and better hardware specs only, smartphone is al about the OS it runs and the apps availability, so android is the choice for me

and yeah HTC sense UI is denifately the best on android custom UI

I just saw that it has lower memory (both RAM and ROM), smaller screen but same weight and looks a little like a tablet. And said it.

On deeper thots:
The HTC Sense UI is indeed the best and also I don't think Dell is 'there' yet with Android devices. I am no expert on such stuff but I heard/ read that this is also the reason why Sony's X10 failed - you need some exp. to handle flagship Android devices (awesome hardware, glitchy software). I was a big fan of Sony and totally loved the X10 till I read about their software bugs/ glitches and update support.

Hence, personally, I think for Android devices we still need to stick to only HTC or Samsung. It might take the others a year or two to roll out flawless devices.

My 2 cents :)

Agree with you Saj and Teja - was just challenging to know your views. :D

Has anyone bought DHD in Bangalore ? :( Please say Yes with dealer's name and price :(

Guys from Mumbai - Good news
Just got a call from another retailer from Ghatkopar. He is selling DHD for 27k.
I will be buying it tomorrow.

So isn't tethering also a feature that should be looked at. I am assuming not all the androids can have that. Very few hi-fi androids have it right.

I think wi-fi tethering was introduced with Android 2.2 Froyo, so I guess it is available for most phones with Android 2.2 or do we need special hardware for it?

Isn't it a hardware featue primarily (the hardware device that broadcasts the connection via radio waves to wireless enabled devices), IMO ? And needless to say, for the hardware to operate you need particular drivers/software (whichever software Android2.1/2.2 or Humpty-Dumpty 0.8 allows it do so)

thats right wifi tethering is intruduced with froyo 2.2 , seems its some new apis in froyo which is able to do it, shouldnt be hardware related as on same device with 2.1 it wont work whereas with 2.2 it will
