Hi suhel. I'm a Newbie in rooting.. i will just add few things, which i found difficult when tried to root my phone three days back.

For the Newbies

In Step 2:
U need adb installed in your PC.. i think superoneclick already has adb in it. if u dont have one install it from here - Android SDK | Android Developers

Remember where it has been installed. it will directly install in C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools

After copying x8rooted.img , busybox , and unyaffs to the root of your sdcard
extracting install.sh (attached) to the root of your sdcard.. Remove the USB and connect it again this time DO NOT MOUNT your sdcard.

Now Open Command prompt - click windows/
Run/ type "cmd"

There
type cd C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools (your adb location)

click enter

type adb shell

click enter again

type su

click enter again

type cd /sdcard

click enter

type sh install.sh

click enter

You don't need to cd the path...

Even if you type adb shell in run a command window will open with the shell command running

Sorry dude... have no idea about it... I'm yet to use WiFi on my phone... my city hardly has any WiFi spots lol

1. Try restarting router, delete the wifi network from the phone and restart the phone.
2. search market for wifi fix
3. If it still doesn't work, try changing the SSID.
4. If you are still reading this because step 1,2,3 didn't help, you're unlucky. Sorry

Hey,

I flashed using this method and everything worked fine. Then I removed gtalk and realized that this is needed for other services to work, like the market.
So, i decided to re-flash from the beginning in order to recover the gtalk and now, after flashing with the 2.1, I always get stuck on the sony ericsson logo (without the green logo). I tried more than once and everytime starting by flashing with the 1.6...

What am i doing wrong?

Regards

UPDATE: ok, now I tried a different thing and it's ok!
actually the first time i flashed, when it went OK, i began rooting it with the super one click 1.5.5 but then I got an error in the adb shell so I rooted it with the old version of superoneclick on top of the other root.
The times i flashed and it went wrong, actually I was rooting it with the old version only. Now I tried like in my first time (first superone 1.5.5 and then old version) and I got it working :D

please help me.....

i'm stuck in "flashing to 1.6 firmware"....the flash tool just displays "searching for xperia...." and does nothing...it seems the tool cannot detect my phone....what shall i do?

Jump to nun-GUI version of the flasher.
But first, make shure you remove the battery, put it back in and than keep pressing the back hardware button while connecting it to your PC.

Hello! First of all thank you all and especially to suhel28 for all contributions.

Well I have some questions on Step 2:
1st: All this -> (x8rooted.img, busybox, unyaffs install.sh) must be copied to the root of the card SD?

2n: And then not to do with what it says on the box called:
Quote:
su
cd / sdcard
sh install.sh

That means I have to do with this or I have only to put it in the root of the SD and that's it??
su
cd / sdcard
sh install.sh

Thank you very much for everything.

Hello! :)

I ask because I've got problem with wifi. I've searched a lot of forums... Wifi at home is disconnecting all the time. I've read that X8 has a cheap wifi module and some of phones (?) have that problem. I can connect to my net, connection lasts for 20-30 secs and it disconnects, reconnects, disconnects. All the time. At work I have wifi router and it is all ok. At home I have wifi card and with Connectify I did an AP. Other phones are working good. I've tested LG and Samsung. They do not disconnect. Some says that it is a problem with firmware (I have 2.0.1.A.0.47), and SE did a quiet update (on the net I see that it is 2.0.2.A.0.24). One of guys wrote to SE with that problem, they said that he should do the update. He did, tested phone for a few days and he says that the problem dissapeared. That's why I'm asking. Which Build number is in that rooted 2.1? :)

On XDA there is a manual to update firmware to 2.0.2, but I don't know if I should do it. I have rooted 2.1+xrecovery+app2sd and many applications, it takes time to install all of it :) Besides, they say that the firmware is chinese, and I don't know if there is polish language.

Edit: There is polish language. I think I will do the update today :)
