Honestly Im not really upset we dont have 2.2.....if you are rooted and taking advantage of custom ROMs and kernels for 2.1, we have an awfully nice setup on a nice phone. No, its not 2.2, but its not like its anywhere near stock either.

Thats a fair point. I mean we do have the best 2.1 device in the world :rolleyes::p
 
man, come on samsung, update this phone already! I cant wait for iphone to come out on verizon. Im done with samsung and their lack of updates. After im done with this phone im going to try motorolla or htc. If iphone ever comes to verizon then i will go with the iphone.

im sure the iphone will have a lot of people jump ship from android, which is fine. if you arent into customization and the like than the iphone is a better choice imo :)

Agreed, I believe the iphone is a good phone, I think my mom needs one. Android is just too much for her, she would be better off with an iphone. I would like one but I do to much customization and like messing with my phone.

The one thing I hate about Android is how many new phones come out all the time, while I also love this about Android, my wallet does not. Granted I do not switch to every phone, I love getting new phones all the time but my wife hates it. :-) I love our options, just wish I didn't like most of them.

Yeah when I bought the SF I told myself this has to last a year. The hardware at least should be good enough to get me to Sept :rolleyes:

i will say that regardless of everything else...the fascinate community is the best one ive seen yet in the verizon android community....i mean it says something that even people who leave for another phone still hang out in the fascinate irc :)
 
I'm right there with you guys in wanting 2.2. Heck I don't even know why I want it that much, will it really bring me some sort of functionality that makes my phone that much better? I just updated my phone to DJ05 last night, haven't yet tried out GPS really, but did notice that I was actually at one point getting 9/9, 10/10 sattelite locks. Never seen that before!

Anyway I know we're all annoyed, but you figure out of those 10million galaxy phones and all the people in the US buying them, how many of them actually go to forums like this and care/or even understand the idea behind a 2.2 update. I have two friends that both have Fascinates and they love them. Using them stock with no mods or anything done, I don't even think they know you can do this stuff to the phone. I on the other hand like what others have said being able to customize it to my liking. I love using ADW or LauncherPro over TouchWiz it's just so much smoother for me.

I'm still holding out for 2.2 though. Hopefully like everyone has said once we finally get 2.2 that will be the key to better understanding how these phones work and then getting us 2.3.
 
Not to get too OT but since the last person referenced GPS, wondering where you look to see how many satellites you are locked on? I always hear people referncing being locked on 4/5 or something but I don't know where to obtain that data on the phone.

Hey!! Did you hear?!? I went to the Verizon forums and some guy said a salesperson said 2.2 is happening tomorrow!!!! It must be true a SALESPERSON said it!!!!





....I wonder if it was the same salesperson that told me "in a couple weeks" in September???
 
IF there is anything actually coming(I doubt it), hopefully there's a fix for the email notification problem. That is completely unacceptable for any phone.

Yeah MR2 is likely DL09, no worries by the 10th we should all be on gingerbread anyway as long as Birdman stays focused, he built a 2.3 kernel last night, just need to tweak it a tad
 
STILL no 2.2 for you guys on this side of the fence? Jeesh. I hate Motorola for locking down the bootloader, but at least they've provided 2.2 in a timely fashion AND recently released a good update to fix some of the minor bugs. If I weren't a hacker/modder of my phone, I'd be livid of Samsung :\

Well even the hackers/ Mordred aren't particularly happy with Samsung atm. :(

I'm no longer under warrenty, I think my phone will be having Gingerbread for dessert next week :)
