RAM discrepencies

According to the press release this has 512mb of RAM (a paltry number, I believe) and their site it has 1GB of memory (which I still think is too small). Any ideas what to believe?

I would hope that Motorola isn't going to hold back on us and only put 512mb in it.

Well they said at their press conference that it is only 512MB of RAM. Very disappointing.

With this, and the fact that we won't likely see this rooted right away, might be time to jump Motorola's ship and go with the HTC Thunderbolt :\

I am going in the reverse direction. Looking at going from a Dinc to the Bionic. Although I am waiting to get the exact specification / release date on the LG model(s), The HTC and the Sammy.

I was just reading on BGR and they had an update to their story on the Bionic. They say Moto reached out to them and it is indeed 512mB of ram. I have a feeling that all of the phones Verizon shows tomorrow will be like this, overall great, but with one sticking point.

Motorola announces DROID BIONIC for Verizon; 1GHz dual-core processor, LTE capable | BGR | Boy Genius Report

Got to the bottom of the story for the update.

The moto website says 1Gb. This isn't a press release.

DROID BIONIC BY Motorola - Android Social Smartphone - - Overview - Motorola Mobility, Inc. USA

And BGR is saying Moto contacted them to clear up the confusion. Between that and the slide showing 512mB for the RAM, I'd say 1GB is doubtful. Either that or a couple of Moto employees are losing their jobs.

I'd say it's more likely that there is a typo on the Bionics product page.

Ouch... bummer. Somebody mentioned a Q2 release date in another topic. Anybody else heard that? I can't wait till Q2.

That's what I've been seeing also. Like I said, I think all of the Verizon phones are going to be overall great, but with one issue (Thunderbolt - processor, Bionic - RAM, Samsung - Touchwiz:p).

You may have to wait that long anyway no matter what phone you get there is no definitive proof any phones revealed for verizon will be coming anytime soon. Guess tomorrow we will find out

Ok, have any of the Samsung device been rooted and has anybody unlocked the boot loader? If so, than that might be the choice.

Is the LG Optimus 2X in the conversation?

Yeah it is. I haven't heard or seen the specs yet. I know it will be a dual core. That is about all. I really want something soon though and I am afraid that the Thunderbolt will be the first to the 4G party for Verizon.

why would you think this wouldn't be rooted right away. Go back and look at how everyone was saying the Droid X would never be rooted and themed to the point of people doing just like your talking about doing and jumping ship...then bam guess what , rooted and themed/rommed

I really like this phone and would love to get it when it comes out. I am no worried about getting rooted, don't think that will be a problem. I am concerned regarding a locked bootloader, wonder if it will be?

I have read the efuse was with OMAP, but I am ignorant about this.

Anyone know?

From what I understand the bootloader is locked on ALL motorola devices. Not one Android phone has yet to receive a custom ROM install. That could be wrong but that is what I am hearing from other forum members. You can root the phone, just can't install a custom ROM.
