RAM discrepencies

What we DO know about this device is an apparent release of "Q2" which is a loooong time in electronic years- especially since end of June is still Q2.

We also know the frickin' iPhone will suck our bandwidth. I think VZW is talking smack about "being ready" and sense a LOT of throttling on the horizon.

As far as the name, Bionic has as a cool 70's vibe :) Would ROCK if instead of "Droooiid!" when it boots up, we hear a Six Million Dollar Man, "nu nu nu nu nu nuuuuu" ;)

"Incredible", now THAT name sucks. I have one so can spray it. I bet the marketing rube that came up with that and it stuck, got a nice back pat (probably themselves patting their own back).

Apparently, Droid Super Cool and Droid Wicked Awesome were shot down in third round of the naming stage. :cool:

Release date was said to be EARLY Q2, meaning April. That was what they announced at CES.

I literally laughed out loud on this....LOL!!!
 
Ok, so the Atrix runs two OS sessions simultaneously (Android and the Linux Webtop), so the extra RAM went to the webtop, but the processor is the same as the Bionic. Bionic in theory would still be faster than the Atrix, with a better camera. Bionic FTW!

Correct! Webtop is a resource hog and not really intended for stand alone phone centric function. 1gb with Webtop will likely be less efficient that 512mb without. It will certainly hurt cpu execution for other apps if running in the background.

Seems more handy for tablets or a phone if plugged into a larger display and docking system.

I would say late April release. Verizon's usual roadmap for phone releases is 1 a month, like I've said before. Thunderbolt will kick it off in March. Bionic was said to be coming early Q2 (April) meaning it should be next after Thunderbolt. I can guarantee this is Verizon's new flagship model for now, they want it out ASAP. As long as there's no hangups in development to finish it. Also, Blackmanx made his little poem not long ago about the Thunderbolt and Bionic. Basically, he says Bionic will be out around Passover, which is typically April 7th/8th. Although some relate Passover to Easter, which is April 24th this year. Hence, most likely April release for Bionic.

I spit dr pepper on my dog, thanks. In all honesty the thunderbolt is a copy of the EVO and it's been what? 6 months?

Verizon is throttling their phones.
 
I was reading this article (Droid Bionic to Release in April?) and they were talking about the phone only having 512MB of ram. Now the guys were saying that the atrix really has 512MB of ram, but since it has two OS it needs 1gb. So does that mean that the Droid Bionic is basically the same as the Atrix?
 
They're just being cheap. My fascinate's 384 mb free ram is Not enough; i get kicked out of apps frequently. Why would 512 be enough for two cores? I would want to play intense games and take advantage of dual cores.

Keep in mind the single core Thunderbolt has 768 mb which is great. Why Motorola can't put in at least 1 gb in the bionic is beyond me.

But I wont settle for that. It has no gyroscope either which I don't understand.

Its almost like manufacturers want to under deliver.
 
Yeah I was disappointed, but just wanted to know if maybe we got the same device as At&T maybe the way they were talking. Also they said it is DDR2 so it is quicker 512MB ram. I do not know and just thought I ask.

I honestly doubt that DDR2 is better than double the RAM. I guess well see. I know the bootloader will be locked so that means I probably wont get it.
 
Well just wait a second till the device is out for a few days. Then you can see if anyone rooted the phone. I mean there are a ton of devs I know for sure will crack motos bootloader thing.

Supposedly the bootloader has been cracked. I just posted a link in the main forum.
