Is this picture quality about average? It seems like I have seen others with a lot better picture quality.

Cfor a low light situation like that yes. What is you ISO set at? Also try taking pictures by pressing on focal point of pic and hold vs using the shutter icon

The iso is set to auto. I will try another picture with the tip you said tomorrow, when it's lighter out.

i manually change my iso as needed. in dark situations...set it higher
