We wait with baited breath.... :)

I still don't understand how the proxy settings fixed the whole problem for me and not you guys. And from my google research, it fixes problems for a lot of other streaming applications too.

Its a no go. Still skipping. From the version number it appears to be the same stooooopid opk. From the market. Just a direct link to it

Have you tried older versions? Not that I would know where to get them, but if there's a certain version where it started happening, the might be able to narrow down what did it.

I know it has been an issue for AT LEAST the last three version updates (personal experience). Based on how old this thread is along with how old the complaints are, it seems like this has been going on for quite some time now.

Not sure if anyone's posted this (I skimmed...)

I had the same problems a while back, Pandora was absolute crap. Locked up fairly often, locked up sense all the time - which then restarted on exit, it was skipping so bad most of the time I stopped using it for a couple weeks.

All I did was uninstall, soft reset the phone, and reinstall. Zero problems in 2 months since.
Stock ROM, not rooted, 3g and wifi same results before and after.

OK, had another Austin trip, not one skip the entire time! And still none driving around town except the one that could be attributed to complete signal loss.

I am going to go ahead and jinx myself and say the proxy servers set to zero did it for me!;)

Are those proxy servers global? By this, I mean when on 4g or wifi does it still route traffic through them?

sorry..no idea. m assumption would be that they are, as we noticed an increase in speeds and decrease in lag across the board...3g, 4g and wifi

Excellent....you may have suggested an acceptible work around. I did find a link to all versions of Pandora and installed 1.2 which is the second android version. Typically on 1.4 and 1.5 I can actually force the skip. To occur simply by changing connection type mid son from 3g to wifi or with to 3g. Well now on version 1.2 when making the change there are a few record skips but then it picks back up and just keeps playing. This version 1.2 was the first version availible to the Ego from what I recall. Then froyo came out and everyone had issues...then pandora updated to 1.3 about the same time sprint had an update adding the codecs that were removed/replaced with froyo. I will also add that the quality is back to being awesome as well. I of course will run this for a while a
and report back.

EDIT: AS of right now it is working much much better. If there is a break in sprint coverage, ie no bardms stream is lost but is regained with a new song and no repeated skips. Going to run some more logs and send to pandora tuesday.

Removed link by request. Use google http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...2.1+apk&btnG=Google+Search&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=
uninstall current version and install this older version. Don't forget to turn off updates for Pandora in market.

Using my experience at the evidence - yes. When I change those settings back and forth, my home wifi speedtest consistently changes between 2 and 5 Mbps - big difference.

And Sprint TV - that always inhibits unless you're on 3G - is playing ESPN Mobile right now (Villanova is going for their 13th straight win).

I've never had 4G access, but I'm hard pressed to imagine any case where it gets magic beans instead of a straightforward network routing.

Well guys...I am making no progress with Pandora. I am dealing with Star, the middle man. I have asked that he have a developer get in contact with me directly. All he does is send me a direct link to version 1.5.1 and tell me that the developers see no issues in the logs, that everything looks normal.

again I urge anyone experiencing issues to send them an email but as of now it looks like no resolution will come out of this.

I am still using 1.2.1 with very limited interruption.

I guess I will have to go find the 1.2.1 ver... for my use.

today it started to jump songs.. 15 secs after each started.

I'd love them to update the widget to have options for transparency. I think it's the ugliest widget out of all the apps I have on my phone...LOL. Ended up using widgicon to make a custom widget.

I don't get any skipping, but I stopped using Pandora because of the sound quality. It has a very high pitched crackling during play. It's extremely annoying and even hurts my ears. I noticed it on my Hero as well. I figured something was wrong with the Hero but I guess not, it does it on the Evo too. Too bad, I love the app otherwise.

yup that is new as well. i think maybe it is time to just move on

(note that version 1.2 seems to have slightly better audio quality as well)

sound quality is great.. it is just the skipping .. after hours of listening.
i have to quit the app. leave it alone for a while.. start it later.
if i start it too soon, it will keep skipping.

this seams like it is a memory thing... something is not clearing. quiting.. gives android time to ... move it out of memory.

I haven't found where the buffer is stored. Watching the logs id agree...the android system clears memory every de seconds

wth ya'll have a pandora widget, lol i don't i can't find it anywhere,lol.

You have to keep the app on the phone in order for it to show the widget, but it's only 1 widget and looks REALLY bad. It basically just says PANDORA with a black background and doesn't really serve any purpose except for opening the app...LOL.

FYI - If you already transferred Pandora to SD, you have to uninstall and then re-install in order for the widget to be available (quirk that I've found with many Android apps).

I just made a custom one that did the same exact function.

^ well, while pandora is running it does give you homescreen controls

so...I have been using 1.2 for a while now and it works much better. It still drops the stream...and does it in the SAME exact spots in my commute every time. Looking at the new sprint coverage maps it does appear that these are poor signal areas. I will continue to look into it all but in the end...I'll most likely stream music from another source. It's sad really, I have used Pandora since it was originally rolled out.
