Pandora on the EVO

well today was interesting, not sure how relevant this is since I was using an older version that the evo never had.

using pandora 1.1.2

so right off the bat the sound quality did sound much better. It also seems to start up quicker and begin playing much quicker, though this could just be me. It played for about 3 hours flawlessly, all while on 3g and stationary. Then it skipped... well it never made it to the other side of that skip....

So pandora just stops playing, but instead of popping up the loading screen it just sits there. after a little while it pops up a message and says can not connect to pandora.com I don't remember but it may have said error. it did try to skip to the next song but it was never able to download it and just sat there with the new album art up. I tried to force a skip but no luck. So I brought up the browser and it took a very long time to load a page, paused at 1/4 and 3/4 but EVENTUALLY loaded a page. I clicked a link and the next page came right up. so back to pandora, still no play. menu -quit and then back into pandora and now it plays fine.

here is the log of this, I think I saved the log before I quit pandora 201113111512254.txt

paused pandora for lunch, it picked right back up where it left off. sometime within the next 1 1/2 hours pandora stopped again, same thing. this time I just quit and reloaded and it played fine. I was too busy today and had to forget about pandora for the rest of the day.

I know the stopping may be due to the old pandora version, but I found it interesting that it was able to tell me it couldn't connect to pandora.

Drew that is what I am noticing on 1. 2.... no skips but it does hand and even becomes unresponsive....every time coincided with phone signal or 3g loss

I went in and had the phone reprovisioned Monday and am waitingvfor better weather to do some roadbtests. We are currently iced in.

I'm not experiencing skips but I'm noticing Pandora will just stop playing for no reason. Full signal when it happens. Then the error comes up having trouble connecting to Pandora. Sometimes it will recover but mostly it gets stuck at loading and requires force kill. Reopen app and it works for a while again. Also notice if I have to pause it won't always come back on when I resume. Stock rooted Rom, though I think its unrelated.

Yeah I had that issue all evening today. This morning it ran flawlessly on the drive in. 2 hrs. Tonight...stopped after each song and had to be restarted

I've noticed one thing about the Pandora skips...

When I actively skip to the next song, it usually starts playing within 10-15 seconds. When Pandora decides it's time to skip ahead, it can take over a minute...and even then, I oftentimes Force Close the app, and relaunch as this saves time.

But it happens song after song after song sometimes...and that's when I go back to the damn radio.

My life was so much less stressful when i owned a simple flip phone

DAMN YOU TECHNOLOGY!!!

I haven't read all 350+ posts in this thread yet, but could this be a Pandora server load issue? Perhaps more folks using it in the evening?

I have thought the same thing, but using WiFi in the evening, I get flawless playback. Maybe it's an increase in 3G usage as well as more load for Pandora.

Something for some reason tells the app to skip to the next song instead of waiting out the network issue. I still see no practical reason for the app to skip to the next song.

It very well could be...but Pandora refuses to acknowledge any issue at all. Even with logs showing connection errors they have responded with "everything looks fine...Pandora appears to be working fine on your phone.

I have the day off thanks to another 6+ inches of snow today so I am going to trim the logs and HIGHLIGHT the errors for them.

I requested that the developer team contact me rather than the cs rep...It's been two weeks :( no contact

Not true. I use nav with mine with no issues.

Quick question for everyone ...what is your roaming set to? Auto or sprint only? Most likely unrelated but I am curious

hopefully some others will chime in. ran across another issue someone had with something completely unrelated and started wondering...

of course for whatever reason pandora wouldn't work on my evo or her att aria all day today so no testing :(

i was thinking about the .. ##xxx# trick thing...

but I did not know this was an option.

btw.. auto

There's an update today that mentions in the change log a fix for skipping and unresponsiveness issues, haven't tried it yet to see if it help or not. New version is 1.5.4.

I updated the app but haven't been using Pandora lately so someone else will have to post their review of the changes.

Intersting. It must have been put up late in the day. As of this am 1.5.3 was still there. Thanks for the heads up!
