Pandora on the EVO

I'm not sure if this is appropriate or not. I tried Pandora but just had too many problems with lag, drops, etc. I went to App Brain and found a radio program called TuneIn Radio. I can listen to live local radio stations or choose from global and Internet radio. The sound is crystal clear. You can even select your genre. I just struggled too much with Pandora. I pointed it out to my sons and they both really like it. Thought I would share but wasn't certain if this was the correct manner.

BTW, been reading the forums for 4 months until finally deciding to join. Lots of great info here and members are very knowledgable and willing to share. My thanks.

Pandora has been really... crappy is a nice way to put it... for me too. I have an unrooted phone. Doesn't matter if I am running 3G or WiFi (we don't have 4G yet where I am living). It will play one, MAYBE two songs. Then it stops and says it is unable to connect to Pandora.com. This has been an ongoing issue. I am running the most current OS. Pandora is updated to the most current version. My PRL and profile are up to date. Soooo frustrating  All other "radio" apps suck on my phone too. Yahoo radio. Slacker. What is going on?!

Gypsy, I went through everything you're doing. Try TuneIn Radio from App Brain; it's free. I just got off it and was listening to classic rock from LA and Boston. Crystal clear!

And thank you Earlymon for noticing my post.

How is Pandora "on the go" ? Any ideas on how good it is running it through the car's audio system?

This might get moved to the BT thread or whatever, but it sounds similar in my car to the MP3s I have on my flash drive. It's not as good as a CD, but, when it's not skipping, it's sounds pretty decent.

there was a pandora update today on the market. it's too early to tell but I've gone at least 5 or 6 songs without a skip. this is rare for me considering it always happens on my way home from work and so far it's been good.

by tomorrow afternoon on the way home I should know if this is a true fix or not.

I have been on the move with the update for the past 3 days. It has only been in town, but I haven't had issues yet. Crossing my fingers that I didn't just jinx myself having said that...

I run my evo with myn warm z beta ...for the last week ..
Run Pandora all day at work ...not noticed any skips

Same one from a few days ago. 1.5.4

I used it all day today. Still skips though slightly less frequent. Most occured during rush hour peak times thatvpeople would use it. A few times it cut out....then picked back up without skipping. They are getting closer

Weird...my phone just picks a day out of the blue to check with the market for updates.

What's the setting I need to enable for this to happen more regularly? I know if I go into the market, and vie installed apps, it shows the ones with updates instantly...but what do i need to do to get it to automatically tell me that I have updates?

Pandora is useless on my drive home from work, so to make it all the way home without a single skip is very promising. The fact that you've had some skips however has me a little saddened...

It was working pretty good for me yesterday, but I still noticed lag when pausing and trying to resume sound. I have to do this sometimes to communicate since I have the headset plugged in and in my ears.

Oddly enough, I didn't notice the update but that may be because I was trying slacker and had uninstalled pandora. Slacker was horrible too with persistent error:1 connection issues.

I wonder if the pause/resume and loading delay of pandora is the phone's fault? I've noticed lately when I type on the keyboard there's a lag until the characters show up. A couple of times it took forever before they showed up on the screen. Sometimes it does it other times doesn't. I can't remember it doing that before I rooted the phone.

^^^ is your phone internal storage memory.. getting full? is it below 90mb???

I'll check the next time it does it, right now it says 93mb free + 152 in 22 with no pandora. The highest memory users are Touchdown and Touchinput at 13mb. I have several apps frozen via App Freezer Root.

has anyone tried retro radio? a co-worker of mine just turned me on to it. it is running very smooth on 4g right now. I had it on 3g and had a few breaks in the play back. but it picked right back up where it left off, rather quick too.

sound quality is really good too.

there is a free and paid version. right now I'm just trying out the free version.

check it out

Im not sure exactly. I think it unlocks the ability to customize the widget. As i can play with the custom settings but it doesn't seem to save it. Unless I'm doing it wrong. The market doesn't really explain it.

Skips again all through the day today. 300mb plus free on the phone. I thought that might be the issue weeks ago :(

Skips are worst during peak listening times like morning commute lunch and evening. Sound quality remains crappy on all versions now...even 1.2.

Sent more logs to pandora...no response

Tried tune in. Sound quality was even worse than pandora. Next up...retro radio. These tune to online radio stations don't appeal to me much. I hate the commercials. I am so frustrated. I was a long time xm subscriber but pandora worked fine on my instinct. Killed the xm service and listened to pandora to and from work. Sadly I think I am about ready to subscribe again :(

did you see.. that pandora is applying for IPO for $100mil stocks.

Mr Ed.. have you tried a new ROM.. maybe something in your old setup that is causing the issue. I am running Myn Warm Z.. a Desire Z port of Froyo and new Sense.

all week long .. no issue.

I will never go back to XM unless it becomes free, had a family plan and the principal subscriber did not renew his XM, just his Navtraffic and even though I had paid for 2 years and had one left I was cut off!

dan may be on to something, try a different rom, maybe that is the problem. Mine has been performing almost flawlessly since the proxy reset, I am on Fresh 3.5.0.1 using the included kernel (which I believe is stock HTC).

Tried Pandora today after a 2 month hiatus and damn that is an awful app. Lots of skips and the times it did play the quality was horrendous. It sounded like someone farting in an empty coffee can. That is with the audio "quality" set to high.
