No forum is complete without its very own best apps thread - so, I'll start, you folks add-on.
Remember - linking to places like AppBrain or the developer sites or even XDA is OK - but never link to direct downloads of apk files: that's harboring copyright infringement and we can have none of that.
If you manage a lot of contacts - or just want something way cool - Google Gesture Search, free in the Market. Gotta try it to believe it.
Astro File Manager - I especially like this because it's not only a handy file manager for letting you scoot around your SD card - it allows quick&easy backup / restore of your downloaded apps.
AndFTP - While Astro can network transfer files with your PC via wireless or Bluetooth, AndFTP is for ftp fans that have a server available on their PC that want those transfers to go maybe more than twice as fast. Not needed when you have a USB cable for drag&drop, but c'mon, who doesn't like a nice wireless xfer from the couch will watching the game or tear-jerker or whatever? (Both work great with Macs, too.)
We also have a whole subforum for discussing the ins and outs of apps in detail - Android Applications - Android Forums
Feel free to make your entries as long or as short as you please!
