What apps do you recommend for the Nexus S? :)

I was just curious if you can get swype texting on the nexus s....and how to keep the phone to run smoothly...and my last question...what are some apps everyone would recommend I download on this phone?
 
Yes you can download the beta at beta.swype.com and some Apps i would definitely recommend are astro file manager, Pandora, pulse news reader, live holdem, radiant hd, and any gameloft games.
 
I'm pretty new to the NS myself. So far I haven't experienced anything to make me think I was going to have to do something to keep it running smoothly. It's a screamer, in addition to being heavenly to hold in your hand & up to your ear and candy to your eyes, light as a feather, ...

I like so many apps, it was hard to pick just 20-ish, was trying for 10, ... really :) Links are to Market, if by chance you're viewing on device (like with Phandroid app on list). For most paid ones I've included, a free version is available as well.

Edit: Looks like I'm a lying sack of weasel spit, seeing that list includes every imaginable link & QR codes to boot. Sorry, sorry.

Twonky - for DLNA streaming to your PS3 or other DLNA devices.
Gameboid - for playing GBA ROMs.
SNesoid - for playing SNES ROMs.
Shopper - Google's shopping app (scan barcodes find products etc)
Tango - for video chat.
Winamp - for music.
Handcent SMS - for better text messaging.
Goggle - Google search by image.

You listed a few I can't live without. I love handcent. And I have been using winamp a ton. It's much better than the stock music app.

Never, I don't want any carrier crapware on my phone. Plus my 3g speeds were faster than my friends Mytouch 4g. Just because it's a 4g device doesn't really change that much with tmobile until they improve their network.

Plus the gpu in the Mytouch doesn't even compare. When playing games like dungeon defenders the mt4g is considered a low end device and the nexus s is considered high end. When the only thing better than my nexus is a tegra 2 device.

And jaramie it usually takes me about 4 hours to be fully charged and thats when my device is at about 15%
 
one last question...this phones eating battery like crazy...i took it off the charger at 5 30 am...by time i got to work at 7 am it already ate 9% of battery life...i didnt even use the phone on my way to work...should i use a taskkiller or what?

Task killers are useless. You can kill any processes with manage applications in settings.

Also my nexus does the same thing with the battery. A while ago I read an article on android and me that said your phone does that on purpose to lengthen the life of your battery. So there is nothing to worry about. I will try and find you a link to the article.

You will probably want a good calculator app considering how terrible the stock one is.

I highly recommend the following:

They are Texas Instruments graphing calculator emulators and they work great. You can even program in BASIC with them and hack the Gibson. Better than any other calculator app I've tried so far.

I cannot believe that these are not more popular. Just spreading the word.

How about the apps that provide coupons, or stores that have thier coupons on their sites... can stores scan bar codes on the phone? Or are they just those square looking bar codes?

Oh there are so many must have apps.

Free
Handcent sms, pulse news reader, phandroid, better alarm clock, facebook, Pandora, Tesla led. Angry Birds.

Paid
Gameloft games, beautiful widgets, SwiftKey.

Those are just apps I use on a daily basis. There are a ton of coupon apps and they can just scan your phone. It makes things quite easy.

And I believe those square codes you are talking about are usually qr codes. Mainly they are used so you can just scan it on your phone and it will take you directly to an app in the market.

That is weird about your battery life. Check the battery status in your settings and see the processes that eat the most battery life after your drive. Check it right after you get out of your car so you can see what is eating your battery while the phone is on standby.

My battery life has been fantastic. I have been streaming pandora for a while today...phone has been off plug 8:30 and it is at 65% right now. Pretty good for constant datapulling/streaming/audio imo.
