With the new and recent policy change Sprint now charning $10 extra for all 3G smartphones, I think we can read the writting bettwen the lines.

I think that in the near future, sprint will start charging an extra $20 for all 4G phones instead of the $10 we have now.

When I say near future, I mean in less than 2 years for the $20 extra for all 4G smart phones.

What say you? :D

yes.. tiered...

or..
they will raise the plan price... from $69.99 to $79.99, but i dont see this happening till 2013.

they are actually going to request blood and organ donations for 4g. it will happen..watch and see.

prices are going to go up. guess what...you are going to pay more for bread, milk, and gas too... whatcha going to do about that?

Yes, and that is perfectly fine. Milk, bread, phone and everything else can go up and as HIGH as they wish. :D

Thank God we have a free enterprise system that will always produce new products at cheaper prices. Oh wait, I forgot Obama & Pelosi want to spread the wealth and kill our free enterprise system. :(

Well, except that prices for those things don't depend on the means by which they are accessed. If I buy less milk, I pay less for it. If I drive less, I pay less for gas. If I use my smart phone less, I don't pay any less for it...

Point is not to complain about Sprint's prices. I'm not happy with their recent move, but I've made my peace - essentially by deciding that if I'm paying more for it, I am going to get the absolute most I can from this phone and data, and use my data connection instead of wifi on the phone even where wifi is available. With that, my data usage is up by more than 10 fold. :D

True, and the opposite can be said as well.

Agreed. :)

Well if they are running a customer defecit then they have to raise prices on the customers they keep to maintain the bottom line. Seems kind of logical to me even if I don't like it.

On the $20 topic, I don't see that happening. I see less of a demand for 3g only phones and more for 4g since their plans will be the same price. The cheaper value phones will go by the wayside, unsupported and unsold unless they give them away for free. That's assuming customers have half a brain.

And I also doubt you'll see $20 or plans go higher because I think with the $10 being non-discountable they'll always get that $10, not 9, 8 or 7. Plus, all the sweet legacy plans will fade away as people's phones die and esn's get swapped. There's no way around that one unless it's a warranty/repair or insurance issue. So pay the insurance and milk it for as long as you can.

Quite true. Which is all the more reason not to compare it to to milk and gas, the spending for which you can control by controlling your use. This is a buffet, not groceries. As long as I'm at the buffet and paying for it, I'm going eat as much as I can. :)

i think comparing cell service cost is fine with anything you purchase.

if you need gas.. to get anywhere... you have to pay today's cost per gallon. you can get less if you want.. but there is a min you will need to get. getting a bike and stop driving is an option, but not going to happen!

if you dont want to pay the cost at sprint.. you can go to a lower provider (ie.. boost). or you can go down to a dumpphone with talk only. hell.. you can go with NO carrier. they phone will still do emergency calls to 911 or police (in most areas)

inflation is inflation. only way to ignore it... is to be a hermit in the mountains.

well said dan. yfan's logic is sound...to the right mind ...but everyone is going to have their own perspective
