Atrix vs Inspire

This is a big deal for AT&T and Motorola, you don't think they'll optimize the Atrix to get the best out of it

Many phones have been a big deal for many companies. Not all of them are or have been optimized nor problem proof. Look at iphone when it first arrived a bigger deal then atrix and it was a mess

No phone is going to be problem proof but I think this phone will be optimized to take advantage of its internals.
 
If it's 2.2, it won't be optimized at all. You'll be able to use the dual core in some respect, but it's not going to be fully functional until a full 2.3 release is rolled out, and again, with Motorola, you just don't know how that's going to go.

Exactly my sentiments. 2.2 only needs so much ram etc so the only thing that will utilize the dual cores will be the games in the tegra zone
 
Even if both cores aren't utilized, it's still blowing away everything else in benchmark tests.
A 2600-2700 score on an unfinished phone is still more than the Inspire will score anytime soon.
 
Until the Inspire gets some freaking face time I wouldn't even consider it. Thats another reason why I think the Atrix is coming 1st because they didn't even boot the damn think up at CES. All the reviews were see how pretty it is, see how big the screen is. I mean granted most Android user have pretty much seen sense run before but come on.

Look at the desire HD almost identical phone with sense 2.0

Again, there are a number of non-gaming functions (I don't game either) that can benefit from faster, more capable CPUs! Video en-/de-coding, complex mapping apps (with 3d visualization), and heck, even regular apps and the UI, because less CPU contention means less lag, quicker UI response, faster swapping between apps, better audio, etc.

The future is definitely multi-core, as clocks are limited. The thing that's potentially slick about a dual core, is when both cores are being used, the clock could drop and produce the same performance as a single core at a higher clock! That means potentially improved battery life without a performance hit.

I think this is a pretty major development in the phone sector. When Netbooks got dual cores they became way more effective, even for simple computing chores.

Even something as simple as an email client: you have a thread running that's doing the initial display rendering and a thread that's coordinating the network layer and handling the transmission of email data. That's in a single app, but consider how many concurrent services are running even with you're not running a specific user app: network services, notifications, GPS, timing/clock services, etc.

Dual cores baby :D

FTR, I've been a developer for 20+ years, so I can babble about this for hours (and put everyone to sleep, hahaha...)

Oh I get it and when a sick HTC dual core LTE comes out in the second half my inspire will be replaced in the fall with my upgrade :)
 
No contest. Inspire has been out for months its basically just a boring old desire hd rebranded. Atrix all the way!!!!!!!!;)

Well good for you, but there is a decent interest in the inspire and I'm gonna say the average person will love it. Not everyone is a geek like us although I'm a geek and I'm leaning inspire so who knows
 
I'm getting both devices so I will do a video comparison of the two and post it.

My personal opinion is that the Inspire is going to win my heart as far as being my main device, but i'll show the Atrix some love when it comes to gaming and multimedia. HTC Sense and HTC in general always win out to be the best built in my opinion, and blur makes my devices feel childish :-\

I thought Motorola's build isn't that bad but agree with blur (well any UI) sucks. I think if the Atrix ran vanilla Android...everyone would be all over it, lol.

^^^^^this... Motoblur seems to be mucking up everything that's great about this phone. Hopefully I'm wrong, but time will tell.
