Root Wanting to use the new 2.2 Update?

I am running on Velocity 0.4 and it's great!
I just want to check out Verizon's new update for the phone.
it's supposed to update a lot of stuff.
Is there a way i can get my phone to update with the new software?

I kind of need steps to do it.

Not sure you're looking for an opinion, but I have an ally here running 2.2 stock, and another here running Velocity .4, and Velocity is about 1000000000000000 times better than 2.2 in my opinion. 2.2 beats stock 2.1 hands down, but velocity is simply smoother, faster, etc. My personal opinion, based on experience, is to wait for 2.2 based ROMs.
