Droid Has To Go!

I have had it with the sound quality on this phone. Tonight was the last straw. I am talking and the person on the other line said they could not understand me and I sounded a muffled Mickey Mouse.
I know people are going to recommend exchanging it, but I have talked to countless people that have exchanged there's up to 3 times and still have the same problem.
I have been to the Verizon store and they play dumb. The best they could do is tell me I need to do the *228 every month.
Nothing works, and no help from Motorola or Verizon. I expected a lot more from this phone, and got most of what I expected except the basic functionality of a phone. Something that my bag phone did back in the 80's.

Maybe I shouldn't have given up my Iphone. At least people could recognize my voice when I called.

Thanks for listening to my Rant...

Get ready for what's coming your way..LOL.

Could be an App that is causing it, the people that have brought the phones back three times and still had problems with them.....I say User Error...Just Sayin.

Seriously , either that or they are reinstalling the same app causing the problem on the replacement device.

Its interesting that back on Nov 23 the OP stated that he left AT&T/iPhone for the Droid and stated "I have never been happier", then after dropping the Droid on the floor he started to have alot of problems with it.

I have installed apps on my phone that have caused it to do some weired stuff, i just uninstall them and i am back in business. I am a Sys Admin For a Major Hospital, and troubleshoot problems all day long. This phone is not to hard to figure out. It just is not for everyone, as you can see here.

Enjoy your iFail, because you didn't wait long enough for the Droid to get the kinks out.. How long did it take for the iPhone to advance to the position it now holds, only to be hampered by a half thought out network?
Enjoy your iPhone, just hope you don't live in the major metro areas where they have now stopped new sales of the product..

So which apps can cause the poor call quality? I'd like to know for future reference. Also, could any of you tell me why I sometimes can't get my screen to stay lit up while on automated calls? I need access to the keyboard to make selections & end the calls. Thanks in advance.

I to would be interested to know if the phone sounds better without any 3rd party apps. My phone works great and many people have commented on the quality. I have noticed at times the volume is crazy low. but usually I use a headset and never have isssues.

You probably have the phone upside down when talking to someone. My dad actually did that the first time he used my droid haha.

DROID Rage!

But, in all seriousness, good luck finding the hardware that works for you! There's going to be drawbacks everywhere but that doesn't mean you can't pick your battles and stick to them, even or particularly if your experiences differ from those of others.

haha my droid is the best clearest phone i have EVER had! EVER! had like 7 phones. My speaker is better.

I dropped my droid like a month back and the sound quality got really bad. Eventually it was so bad that on the other end, it was all static. I took it back to Verizon and got a replacement...

I'll give you $100 for it!!! :)

PM me. Seriously...

I'll give you $200! :D Paypal, immediately. My wife would absolutely love to have one, but she's not up for renewal for a while.

Just shoot me a private message with your e-mail address.

Best regards,
Brad

Don't know. But I was on a call yesterday and the screen stayed black even after I took it away from my face. May have been because I had it on speakerphone. Makes sense to not have it stay lit up on speakerphone, though. Hitting the volume button got the screen to light up again.

To quote your earlier post:

"My wife and I both had Iphones on AT&T. We dropped them both and went with Verizon and the Droid. I have never been happier. "

Some people aren't happy for very long, oh well. Most of us are still happy with Droid!

I don't think it's very fair not to let this guy be pissed about the phone failing in call quality, no matter WHAT he said about it earlier. The knee-jerk pile-on is like he walked onto a football field and said the team sucked and the rival team is better. Sure, it's just a demonstration of product loyalty, but isn't that a given since we're all gathered here in the first place?
The guy's having problems and he's justifiably pissed off. He needs technogeek help, not a kick in the nuts. And from the looks of it, he's not the only one experiencing this problem. I'm also experiencing "less than optimal" call quality.

I have the same issue, but I notice it when it happens it is due to me having the phone against my cheek while I hold it with my shoulder. It is a pain but I adjust and all works fine.

$250...

I got my daughter a Rogue the same day as I got my Droid and gave it to her for Christmas and the required data plan for the Rogue is total BS. I'd do just about anything to dump that POS.
