Is anyone else completely disinterested in the Atrix now?

LOL....I love people that are so passionate about a device, it gives the Forums some character! I'm not terribly against the Atrix at all, I just feel at this point in time at&t should be priced right. My thought would be $199 for the phone, which it is! And about $100-$150 for the laptop dock. That would make a lot more sense. Instead they choose to rip us...The Android followers off....not cool! However, yes the Atrix is a real awesome device, however if I was going to get it, I would definitely want that dock, and the pricing is a little up there IMO. I'll sit back and check the reviews, and pay attention to how my fellow Forum members are diggin the device once it drops. One thing I will be paying attention to is how 4G speed is on it, and how better/or worse call quality is.

If the reviews are real good, and speed is lights out, and call quality is real good, it'll do well. But if its pokey slow, and has the same call quality issues as at&t's 3G service has, look for this thing to drop in price.....QUICK! especially if the vzw iPhone starts getting rave reviews.

48 GB of STORAGE. It's not your fault, I'm sure you're just looking at at&t's product page which has these types of errors all over it.

Ok thats it! Ive decided Im going for the Inspire! Better build quality, big nice screen, nice camera, updates, ROMS, what more can you ask for! I wish it had a FCC but whatever, not something I need, hopefully the Inspire will last me until next year where I can get an upgrade! Wooh!

Battery worries me a bit though...

SD cards are called Memory cards. I went ahead and differentiated them both by calling one 1GB of RAM (Random Access Memory).

Atrix 4g gets NINE HOURS of 3g talk time

Inspire gets a mere six compared to the Atrix...

Sideloading is easily done by turning on airplane mode, remove sim, and use wifi to install apps you normally couldn't. Dunno why your saying that the Inspire 4g is a better phone by having a feature that the Atrix 4g easily has as well :confused:

last time i checked that video isnt a work around its the inspire allowing it straight forward. In the end the hype far out paces the true phone and that will come to the forefront soon enough

It takes me 30 seconds to turn on airplane mode, remove sim card, and turn on wifi :rolleyes:

Just sounds like your grasping for straws in order to try and convince yourself that the Inspire is better out of nothing. Spec wise the Atrix 4g is better so instead you make big deal out of a 30 second procedure that makes or breaks your decision? :confused:

Then buy a wall charger from HTC, they're like $10. I got a car charger for $7 off eBay. Or you could wait for extended batteries, I'm sure there will be one with at least 1500mAH, probably even more.

But back to the Atrix, what's so special about the webtop OS? What exactly is it, because as far as I can tell, all it does is run FireFox... Have I missed anything?

that was extremely annoying on the captivate, so glad its on the inspire!

Also Ive been on Android for a while, just that my captivate broke and I have to use a 3GS until then..

Nonono! It will come with a charger like most phones, I meant you could buy an extra one to take with you to work or school or where ever you need it.
 
reguardless of personal preference the ATRIX CRUSHES any cellphone out right now and even phone that are going to be released that ARE contenders are not going to bury it. take the laptop dock completely out of the equation, as it is a EXTRA, The inspire has nothing on this phone other than the whole sideloading crap, I can only believe that all the TROLLING and slamming this phone is taking now is due to sheer boredom judging by the amount of posts certain people have put up about it.

I remember the Nexus S forum having to defend their forum from a massive amount of trolls who said:

"Why get last years technology?"
"Why not wait for a HSPA+ phone?"
"Nexus S is too expensive"
"Nexus S is ugly"
"Nexus S is cheap plastic"
"Why not wait for dual cores?"

The list goes on and on for the trolls. Basically it came down to this:
- The Nexus S was the very best phone at the time (even if it was for just a few months)
- They wanted it and didn't want to hear a bunch of people complaining over features that didn't matter

So now the Atrix 4g is actually the best spec'd phone on the market and trolls are trying to attack it with weird arguments of:
"You have to spend 30 seconds turning on airplane mode to sideload apps"
"The accessory is too expensive"

Makes no sense :rolleyes:

Its just that there was high hopes for a great laptop accessory and now 99% of people buying/waiting for the phone cant even afford it now that the price is released. Great phone but could have been MUCH BETTER WITH THE LAPTOP DOCK...

Ok but no other phone even has the option for a laptop right now, or the specs to even compare so it still is the better phone right now no matter which way you slice it.;) 199 dollar contract price is the same as any other high end phone. I would go for it.

I agree with you on that. $199 is a great price for the phone itself :). I hope its worth the extra 100 bucks over the Inspire though since im not utilizing any of the overpriced docks of the Atrix:(

Yeah I agree that the phone is waaaay better with a theoretical cheaply priced laptop dock.

But I think of it like this:

Imagine when the Toyota Prius was first coming out, it was going to be a breakthrough game changer for the industry and set a standard. Now what if tech blogs started rumors that the Prius was only going to cost $5,000!

Everyone would be going crazy with demand wanting to get the Prius as soon as its released. But what if the tech blogs were wrong (just like they were with the Atrix 4g laptop dock pricing)? What if instead of the speculated $5,000 price it actually was going to cost $20,000!

Would everyone hate Toyota and boycott the Prius over the pricing? No

Why would they not boycott? Because the price that the tech blogs speculated was just that... pure speculation. Also the Prius is a game changer (just like the Atrix 4g)

Unless someone has an official statement from Motorola or Att that says the laptop dock was going to be $150 - 200 and wouldn't count toward tethering then I would love to see it. Otherwise, people need to keep things in perspective and understand that the Atrix 4g is an absolute game changer and standard setter and that Att can charge whatever they want. If you don't want the accessories fine, but people complaining over pure speculation of prices not coming true is pure foolishness...

I agree. Lets not forget HDMI mirroring. And Front camera for those that care..
 
So if you get the laptop dock do you HAVE to get the tethering plan? I just wanted it for wifi. I'm not really into the phone now, I might wait and jump ship and head to big red later when my contract is up
