what keyboards are u guys using?

One thing has always bothered me about swype, but I just figured out how to fix it.

-when entering a URL, or a username or any input field like To: in a text, it puts the letters in the suggestion box and doesn't actually fill in the field until you choose the selection.
>but I went to Swype settings and unchecked the box for "word prediction" and now it doesn't do it. EXCELLENT!

i also made a write up about swype when it first launched in beta, about the secret (well not really secret, but less known shortcuts) for example:

1. SWYPE from the "SYM" key to the "F" key = Calculator style numberpad
2. SWYPE from the bottom left (Swype emblem) key to the "SYM" key = Arrow pad
3. Swype from any secondary symbol (for example from the "M/?" key to the space bar and it inputs the "?" symbol without having to longpress.

These features I think gives swype the leg up that it needs to pull ahead.

Additionally I have "word Choice Window" set to "NEVER" and "Speed vs. Accuracy" about 25% left of center; both available under settings.

Check it out and see if these make a difference.

Just installed a themed Gingerbread kb to match the green Android color. Wasn't crazy about the orange. You can download it in red and blue also.

That commercial again - it's ok to point to the Market, Appbrain, developer sites and apks for standard Android components.

So the above is ok.

Linking to other apks results in dogs marrying cats and severe penalties.

Cheers and carry on!

Thanks!

And EarlyMon, congrats on your promotion. I barely noticed that.

i am using swype... it is great.
I highly recommend everyone that want to try swype to do the tutorial. There is a lot that you need to know in order to make it more usable to you!! I was able to be efficient with swype in 4 days.

If you go into options.. and turn on prediction. you can use the swype kb like normal if a word is too long to swipe.

there is a few issues...
ex: in the market, when you are looking / searching.. normally, when you type in letters it will start to give you suggestions of what might fit your needs and change as you add in more letters to your search. With swype, it does not put in the letters into the input field as you type, so no suggestions. This needs to be corrected!

i wish my fingers were transparent. I could scream with swype then...

I am pretty good an a fullsized keyboard, and have a very good idea where every key is, but when I am swyping quickly, sometimes my fingers get in the way, and I can't see what I am typing. I just roll with the punches, and usually, everything works itself out.

I've only had swype since last week, but I already have switched to it. It works well one key at a time like my old keyboard...plus I get to swype whenever I care to.

I miss HTC's keyboard in some ways, but I know how to get things done with swype, and can manage.

Just can't seem to find the right one

Hmm wow a lot people gettin banned these days hectic hey? A bit sad actually... anywayz...

But to answer your question buddy, i use one of these they are actually pretty damn good and fast in my unbaist opinoin and you can type out 2 letters every hour or so not too bad at all considering today in the modern day world it works well:

I finally did the update on my phone and downloaded the Swype keybord but I don't like it is there anyway I can switch back to the stock keyboard, Please help...

I use swiftkey, tried swype, I suck at it, actually am not a good typer period, but swiftkey is good cuz its word prediction is second to none, I just wish there would bea keyboard with no lag

I just recently changed to Swiftkey from Swype and I love it so far. Of course both have their own pros and cons. Swiftkey has issues with plural words because you tend to have to type out the entire word before it predicts the plural forum of it.

The keyboard has stopped working on android 2.2 mid. give mi this message the application Android keyboard (process com.android.inputmethod.latin) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. any help i cant find any where,

Smileys show up in Handcent. You may have to enable it in the Bubble Settings. The default smiley is an alien but Handcent offers a downloadable add-on which enables the regular yellow-faced smiley.

I'm currently using the gingerbread keyboard. Occasional freezes though... I'm not sure if the problem is the keyboard or my phone.

I'm using the HTC IME one for now. I have swype and the gingerbread keyboard and they're both not doing it for me. The HTC keyboard is by far the most superior keyboard that I have used IMO.

SwiftKey- I love it! Used swype on my Hero and it just wasn't as fast as I wanted it to be, and still messed up words more often than I liked. SwiftKey is much faster and the predictive text is SO smart after you've been using it a while

After reading through these posts.. I have come to the conclusion that the problem is my phone. It freezes up only when using both keyboards - stock or gingerbread. I guess it's time for my first replacement.
