Root [ROM RELEASE] Velocity V1.0

Before I try it I might as well ask. There is a guy in another thread saying that the darktremor a2sd script works on velocity 1.0. Can anyone confirm this as I am out of space already. I tried different methods including stock a2sd, move2sd from the market and also the options within velocity. I used the darktremor method before 2.2 with great success I am just wondering if it will work with this rom. Thanks in advance.

I'd like to point out two bugs I have found with apps that happened after I installed this:

1. Tweet deck force closes if it tries to bring up a facebook group.

2. AudioGalaxy won't connect to its server. It says something about adfree so I ran the show ads script, but that didn't work.

These seem to be problems with the apps in relation to the ROM so I don't expect them to be fixed. I just wanted to point them out.

I did reinstall the apps AND the ROM to see if either fixed it, but neither did.

Other than that this ROM is VERY snappy and quick and I love it. Thanks to the devs.

Has the rom been updated with the update script or is this still a 2 step process?

Not sure I understand this question.

Are you asking whether you need to follow the root guide before installing Velocity 1.0?

If so, the answer is yes.

From http://androidforums.com/trident/27...ly-android-2-2-1-froyo-super-fast-stable.html (small edits by me)
1. If you have not already done so, you must apply 2.2.1 Froyo officially using this guide before you can use this ROM
2. Perform a Nandroid backup!
3. Wipe all userdata (and cache+dalvik cache)
4. Install the ROM

Okay I wanted to get some clarification on this since i'm a no0b.

I just got my LG Ally off of Craigs List for $65
I upgraded to 2.2.1 through the phone. It has never been rooted. I rooted it using the superoneclick method. I have the superuser app. I've installed Titanium backup and busybox (don't know what that is). I've also installed ROM Manager and I just tapped 'Flash ClockworkMod Recovery. The yellow bar is moving.

Once that is finished am I okay to install Velocity 1.0 or is there something else that I need to do? I'm very new at this and as i've been browsing around as a guest for a while i've seen that this is one of the nicest and most helpful around. Thank you in advance for helping yet another no0b out and I will be sure to send a donation for all the hard work.

BTW Trident, i'm pretty sure I gave you your 2000th 'Thanks' this morning. :D

I finished Flashing ClockworkMod and it said it was successful. After that i tapped 'Backup Current Rom' and after I entered a description it rebooted super fast and hung on the LG screen. I pulled the battery and it came back on fine. I went it to 'Manage and Restore Backups' and there is nothing in there. Should I assume that it didn't work then?

Again, sorry for the stupid no0b questions. We gotta learn sometime though right? ;)

EDIT 1: Also I just tried to reboot into recovery (just to see what it looks like) and all it did was reboot, show the droid with the ! and the Droid for a couple seconds and then it rebooted. Is something wrong?

EDIT 2: Also (lmao) I cannot delete any sys apps from inside Titanium Backup. I tried but Amazon is still there after the reboot.

You HAVE to update with the guide posted in the all things root forum

http://androidforums.com/ally-all-things-root/263285-guide-froyo-2-2-1-root-users.html

have to have the custom recovery and rot to install the ROM. it seems real complicated but if you read it through and get help on the IRC ally channel it should work fine

I was wondering if the savoxis script update 14 has been included in the download or if both need to be installed.

The script is updated via terminal emulator. Its extremely simple!

The script updates aren't something included in the rom, its something server side that you have to update yourself. Do what I have above and you will update.

Thanks to GRZLA, dots, and Death (forget his full username) i'm fully up and running. This ROM is the shizzzz!

Thank you all so much.

So I should not have rooted my stock Ally 2.2.1 with the superoneclick method? I didn't do anything in that guide. I found that site, rooted my Ally, and came here for help on installing Velocity. Once Dots showed me via irc how to make my recovery stick I installed it without a problem. I've not had time to test it really yet but it installed fine. Do I have problems ahead of me becuase I used the superoneclick method?

Just tried my camera for the first time since updating, zero problems, loaded quickly, snapped a pic of my monitor, pressed the gallery button, pictures popped right up. I'm overlocked to 748 with smartass governor.

Loving the ROM. Great work.

Mine was doing that. I cleaned everything in recovery mode, reflashed the rom, switched my overclock to 787 from smartass to interactive and works awsome now.

I did the superoneclick method. I use this ROM. I used ROM manager to flash RA and installed everything from RA's recovery mode.

Anyone else having trouble getting apps to install to the SD card by default? I went into terminal and set it up to install them to the SD card by default and it isn't taking. Any ideas?

Is anybody else having trouble downloading velocity from the link provided? I haven't been able to find it anywhere else either. Any help, I'm so ready to install this rom!

This is just nit picking, but the "preform" warning in the reboot menu is a little annoying. Any chance of a fix?

If its not too much to ask, is there anyway the froyo version of the lg clock weather widget be posted. I know I've asked in another topic.

They know much more than me so id say youre good, i was just under the impression that the guide posted was the most reliable way to get root and a custom recovery.

Love the ROM so far. My only personal feedback (not nit-picking) is that the stock messaging app is still black text on white background and it sticks out like a sore thumb now that most of everything else is themed dark. You go to read a text message and the white screen surprises you lol. I know I can fix that by using a 3rd party app with color options, and I currently am back to using Handcent, but I wish I could stop needing that app just for its one feature that I use, I like the stock messaging just fine. Could this simply be fixed with some type of theme that doesn't change anything except from the messaging colors? Everything else about the Velocity layout is great and I wouldn't want to change it too drastically.

Anyways that's really my only piece of feedback. If we could get a dark messaging option, or be allowed to change it through the new Velocity scripts somehow, that would kick butt.
