Some things I'm wondering about at this point...
- Maybe it's like this at all carriers, but why is there such a huge gap in awareness between customer service reps. at Verizon?? As we all know, it's like playing rep. roulette when you call in there and get results ranging from the very credible to the very confused. On the less clueless end, I did ultimately speak to someone there who had just completed hands-on training with the Thunderbolt and he agreed that the phone was awesome. He also confirmed (at least as of the date I spoke with him) that it will not immediately come enabled with the intended skype or mobile hotspot capabilities.
- Why is this phone on Verizon lagging so far behind the Evo on Sprint which, although presumably not as impressive as the Thunderbolt, is apparently comparable (i.e. has the Sprint version of 4 G, has a front camera, has 4.3 display, has kickstand, has mobile hot spot, etc.) It would seem Verizon certainly let its competition well establish this type of phone before answering in kind (?) Does this at least make Sprint the "now" network and Verizon the "we're in no hurry" network when it comes to the latest HTC smart phones?
- Regardless of what becomes of the mobile hot spot feature (i.e. free on the Thunderbolt speculation), why is it currently $30 extra a month to enable on existing phones PLUS per data usage?? As we know, this could add up quickly. Again, Sprint charges the favored $30 a month for the Evo enabled hotspot as well, but then it's unlimited usage from what I understand.
- Why all the floating launch dates and all the claimed ignorance on any launch date at all from Verizon sources from the ranks of Verizon stores to Verizon customer service? For what it's worth, BB on my preorder is still sticking with a Feb. 14th arrival - unless that will change when they open today with this new rumor about a delay.
- Is my longtime loyalty to Verizon still warranted? Are they still the best deal around with their expansive coverage, non-tiered data plan, Thunderbolt pending, and better 4G technology even with the aggravations well documented across the forums??
- And most of all...with Russell Brand's now rumored marital problems, will Katy Perry take my calls??
These are just some of the things I wonder about mid-week I guess. It's cool, though, that somewhere over the rumor rainbow will be a Thunderbolt in our hands. Until then, we'll continue to follow the trail...and the threads.
