Help Will the unlocked HTC Desire HD work in India?

I can get its apk from somewhere, installing it is not a problem, I am worried about why it is not searched in our DHD android market

no, actually if u share an app via it sends the link to that app in the market.
so by following that link, if you get to same app, there is a problem in the search, n if the link takes you to page with "no matches found" then the app is not available on the market.

even more frustrating...an app called "mobiesta" which is an indian app, even this is not getting searched in my DHD but same is searched from UK Desire Z

common who can explain this nonsense :(

I'm able to search both iMediaShare and mobiesta from my DHD without any problem.

guys its soo strange, I am now able to search both the apps iMediaShare and mobiesta on my DHD

looks like android market behaves strange sometimes

but its solved now :)

for all those who were thinking of getting the so called dual core LG

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgzQMyKJh8A&feature=player_embedded

watch closely and now see the difference, the HTC sense UI on our DHD is far more better and looks more professional that LG, LG is similar to samsung UI which is not at all good

and yeah dual core will be only usefull with tablets for phones with 4.3 inches we are better off with 2nd generation 1 GHZ processor and plenty of ram

I am glad to see this vid bcoz I find my DHD far better than LG :)

Hey guys need help for the HTC SENSE.

Keeps asking me to turn on the Phone finder on the mobile but its 'on ' on the mobile

How do i do it

I got HTC Sense working by doing the following steps;

Registered my phone on the HTC India site
Turned on gps
Logged in to HTC Sense , selected India
Entered my phone number so thst it showed with +91 at the top of the site
Clicked Refresh location, had to logout of sense thrice before it showed pune and then clicking on the plus sign showed my phone's exact location
Clicking on ring, rang my phone and showed a message on my screen saying the owner of this phone is trying to finf this phone so it is ringing
I have not yet tried out forwarding or locking my phone but they should also work

Hope this helps.

I never see a refressh location button on htcsense.com always see this message

“Phone finder" is currently disabled. For security reasons, go to your phone to enable this feature in Settings >> Location >> Phone finder.

can ring the phone though

Dual core, frond end camera, HDMI, 1080i and high end games...etc These are plus points and i will be going to buy dual core mobile in march. If Samsung or HTC launchs their dual core phones in march or april, will then decide which one to go for.

Hello All DHD Users from India
Can you confirm that if some one got the Voucher for premium navigation in the Box, or premium navigation is valid for only one month and then we have to buy this ? .

Copied from HTC.com

[Depending on the country where you bought your phone, you may only need to enter a voucher code to activate turn-by-turn navigation. If you have a voucher code, enter it by tapping Voucher code at the top of the Purchase navigation tab. ]

Hello,

I've noticed on my friend'd DHD that .avi files with a higher bit rate or 720p videos in .avi format , the playback is a bit choppy.i can see the frame by frame playback.
Whereas 720p files in .mp4 format plays smoothly.
I have no idea whether my friend had turned ON this USB debugging thing.
Can any one of you try out this on your DHDs with the stock player with USB debugging ON and OFF.
I've seen many threads on this forum regarding DHD's choppy playback of 720p videos.
Any observations would be great.
Thanks.

Regards,
Kumar.

I was having a same problem on my DHD but now I use Rock Player which seems to have sorted out this issue. Try it, maybe it'll work for you as well.

finally got my desire z on saturday.
awesome phone really liking it so far
i second fusion123s opinion use rock player, plays almost all files smoothly, haven't tried 720p though, will try and get back

Rockplayer and Vplayer are the best players around.. some videos play better in one and some in the other...

To my surprise, the gsmarena review also noted out this issue.
They said that Desire Z playback was smooth whereas DHD had this choppy playback for high resolution divx/xvid format videos.
Should this be escalated to HTC or will it get better with the next maintenance updates??
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You.

Hello,

It would be great if you can compare the playback of the same 720p video on both the desire z and DHD, if u get the chance..

Thanks

no one i know has the hd, heck no one i know even has an android phone.
On my desire z the max i can play is 480p videos, some 720p videos play albeit with a lot of skipping and stutter, other 720p videos do not play at all, still others start playing but quit after a few seconds. This is with both rock player and vplayer and mkv/mp4/avi. Battery usage was around 10% for every hour of video played

Vpalyer actually works fine for most of the formats.
My concern is the stock player.I have compared the video playback on Galaxy S too.
Galaxy S plays almost any 720p videos even the ones with .mkv format smoothly.
DHD with Vplayer does not give smooth playback of .mkv files.
I have made this observations with USB debugging turned ON.
As far as stock player is concerned, this issue must be reported to HTC.
And Vpalyer is a very good app.Hope the deves are improving this app..
Let us see if HTC has a maintenance update in the months to come..
Any Gingerbread news??

the cpu(not the gpu) in desire hd is better than galaxy s, still it has problems playing 720p videos beacause samsung has licensed codec from divx and can use its default player with hardware decoding to smoothly playback 720p videos, the hd on the other hand has to rely on software decoding which is much less efficient in spite of the faster cpu. htc may be able to add software support for hardware decoding of h.264 mkvs, but i do not think it will, here's hoping. As for gingerbread i haven't heard a peep from htc since December last year when they announced their intention of updating "a number of devices" to android 2.3 without a time frame. Going by past experience however it may take upto six moths for the update to roll out, that means a release of Q2 2011. In the mean time we can install it unofficially if we want but i for one will wait for the official update.

There must be a free 30 day trial for navigation.
If that is lapsed then i think that 370 Rs/month is for navigation.
Here's some info

I think there is a problem here as your phone is from Singapore.
I have some ideas, but that may not answer ur queries completely.
From "locations" u shd download India Maps (its around 200 MB).so use wifi.
For navigation search for some apps in the android market.
Is the voucher from HTC or Tom Tom (maps provider)??
As far as accuracy is concerned, Tom Tom maps are not that accurate when compared with Google maps.

Check out the link below..

I suggest u to mail/contact htc singapore and explain them this issue, may be they can give you some solution.

Hope u will get a solution to your issue, here on the forums.

Kumar.
