Root LG Optimus M 2.2.1 Rooted!

Well I don`t know what to tell you guys, but I think I was lucky because just after the upgrade with the rooted 2.2.1 my phone connected to the network. Maybe someone could fix this. Because Im out of ideas right now.

Yes you were lucky, I've tried several times and it just won't connect to the network. I'd be willing to try something else on my stock 2.2.1 phone if anyone else has any ideas.

My phone is currently in the process of restoring back to stock.
Thank you for everyones help, i just cant seem to get my phone to hold a PRL after the root. in LGNPST it says PRL - N/A
i even tryed to use my stock PRL that i copied and that would not work. i have tryed over 20 ideas that i have had and none of them have worked.
if anyone has any suggestions please let me know and i will try them.

So I followed your guide for the root with 2.2.1 stock, then followed the directions for the recovery image. Although I just got a black screen when I went into recovery (as did you), I pulled the battery and now on reboot I have my network working with 2.2.1 rooted!!

now say if i flashed ed's stock rom for root 2.2.1,and my network didnt connect,can i use the recovery phone option in the LG UPDATER to recover my phone incase something goes wrong?since this would be on my ONLY phone i cant be without service.thanks.

let me see if i understand. you upgraded the phone using the rooted .bin provided here and then installed a custom rom? fallowing this and that made your network work after after taking off the battery?

My phone is now rooted with signal!!
All you have to do is root the phone with joneidy directions and then use the link that ewarnick posted and follow the directions there! After you finish with the flash_image and recovery-thunderc-m-v1.2.0-GNM.img then reset your phone and you will be rooted with signal!!!

Great, that means now we have a repeatable process to root the Optimus M when Android 2.2.1 was pre-installed.

so im trying to use the ADB commands and i keep getting operation not permitted!!?? and i already gave it SU PERMISSIONS...what is the deal now..its also showing me a $..i dk if im supposed to be getting a #....help please.

You don't have root. Did you restart after.installing superuser? If you did then under adb shell under where you see $ type such and it should change too # , if it doesn't then open the supperuser apparently in your home menu and see if you gave it permission.

im all set...i dont know what i did differently that last time but i ended up getting #,entered the cmd's and restarted my phone and ALL IS WORKING!!! I HAVE ROOTED 2.2.1 WITH SERVICE!THANKS TO ALL YOU GUYS!!!

i followed all the steps but it didn't work me. i think some important application is not getting root rights or could be a hardware problem since i doesn't even detect the version of the firmware. and when i tried to activate the GPS it crashes and then reboots. am i messing anything?

ive already done all the steps twice. im using windows 7 32bits. after i flashed the rooted bin the 3017 prl and the scr from the LGNPST folder. i installed the su and busybox then superuser then installed the custom recovery like suggested. the screen goes black, like it happened to some people, on reboot nothing happens. is missing a lot of information from the settings -> about: like the SW,PRl and a bunch more. i tried in win7 64bit but LGNPST doesnt load some dlls. im cursed

my screen never went black like every one else, but the version of windows that you are doing it on shouldnt matter, i did mine on win7 64bit but i know someone that has done it on 32bit as well.
You can always restore your phone to factory and then try it over again.
it sounds like you messed up somewhere on the custom recovery part. when you enter the adb shell and type su do you get a #?
also were both files in the root of your SDcard unzipped?
then did you write everything in the code box with the correct spacing?
# mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock5 /system
# cat /sdcard/flash_image > /system/bin/flash_image
# chmod 755 /system/bin/flash_image
# mv /system/etc/install-recovery.sh /system/etc/install-recovery.sh.bak
# mount -o remount,ro -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock5 /system
# flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-thunderc-m-v1.2.0-GNM.img
after you finish this line "# flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-thunderc-m-v1.2.0-GNM.img" you dont have to do anything else, just restart your phone and you should have signal.
i am actually not sure what step people get the black screen with, i have done this with three phones, mine my girlfriends and my brothers and none of them got a black screen.
just restart after that last line and you should have signal.
if you still have the same problem let me know, i will walk you through restoring your phone and then through the process from the beginning.
