Keep in mind there could be a lot of things affecting your Quadrant score. For starters, people may be obtaining higher scores because they have overclocked their CPUs and enabled JIT compiling.

Also, the apps and widgets you may having running as ongoing processes in the background would reduce your overall score as well. Like I said, there are many variables.

think I'm going to stop updating to every new release for a bit here, to me it seems like this rom has started to regress a bit, now the market and gps isn't working

going to reflash the 2/10 release since that one worked perfectly fine for me

I thought that the rom was supposed to have full flash, but I cannot use or see anything with flash so I got the apk for flash 10.1 and downloaded the flash showcase app to test it and its still telling me I don't have it.

So my question here is how would I go about getting it? I know people have said that they have got it working and that the quality is kinda crappy, but I want to see it for myself and make the decision.

I usually update a Rom after about 4 releases, this way I follow the progress of the releases, then when I see much better progress then I update, IE the last release I had was the Feb 6 release, and yesterday I finally update the Feb 18 and so far so good.

The Hero cannot suppose full flash, it does support Flash Lite but even that is not great, and on another note even the new phones that do support the full flash, they all complain that it is not that great and still needs much work

Like DonB said, the Sprint HTC Hero cannot support full Adobe Flash 10.1. It just was not made for it. I go into more detail about that here: http://androidforums.com/htc-hero-sprint/113787-flash-10-1-android.html#post2295016 .

I have seen Flash Lite .apk files that are compatible with non Sense UI ROMs, but I have not had any experience with trying them on say an AOSP or CyanogenMod ROM. You can give it a try yourself if you want by searching on Google for "flash_for_21.apk" and then installing it via a file explorer like EStrongs File Explorer. It says it is Flash for Android 2.1, but it is really just Flash Lite 4, which is really a slightly enhanced version of Full Flash 9 with some Flash 10.1 elements added. I have seen reports that it also works on Android 2.2+.

Ok I found the flash for 2.1 when i installed it, it said it was flash 10.1 on the top. Did I get the right one our did someone name it wrong?

One more question well 2 actually...what app does everyone use to get your quadrant score? (btw I have been using quadrant standard) And on gb what's your best score I got a 415 I'm running set cpu@ 768mghz with pro launcher 3 screens with a power control widget and a set cpu widget with the Deccafuct kernel.

Well thinking about all that I got one more thing to ask. Ok I went and ticked enable jit in the performance area of cm settings and then rebooted. I thought well I want to make sure it actually enabled it, so, I went into the build.prop file and looked at the line and out still said
“dalvik.vm.execution-mode=int:fast”
instead of
"dalvik.vm.execution-mode=int:jit"
Which from what I think I know that means that jit is not enabled an I right or am I wrong? Sorry if that seems like a dumb ass thing to ask but I just want to make sure its on.

For those of you still having issues with locking on GPS you can try this fix from Ranger, download the attached file, libgps.so.zip

C&P

For those still having issues with GPS, here is what I did to get mine working. The original concept was posted a few pages back by Digital, but has been lost in the plethora of new posts. Here are step by step instructions.

This is with stock kernel, no tweaks, mods, etc. Unedited build.prop
1. Download and change the attached file and rename to libgps.so (DON'T unzip, just rename)
2. Use Root Explorer and navigate to /system/lib
3. Locate the current libgps.so and rename to libgps.so.old
4. Take the new libgps.so (the one you just downloaded) and put it in /system/lib
5. Long press it...it will pop up a list of options and select permissions.
7. "Read" should be checked under user, group and others. "Write" should be checked under user. (This step is important. If you miss it, the Navigation app will disappear
wink.gif
)
8. Nothing else should be checked.
9. Press "OK"
10. Reboot

GPS should now work. Fixed mine and others. Perfect and fast locks. No loss of lock. I did get a reboot after about 30 minutes, but I have had that forever if GPS runs for too long. But after the reboot it ran for the remainder of the two hour drive

Only thing I noticed is that when in the Nav app rotation didn't seem to work, but when I was driving, it was spot on. Rotation works in Maps and compas mode though.

My friend noticed that the compass mode does not seem to work anymore too. I have not tried it yet.

Hopefully they include this fix in the next build. I do not mind rolling up my sleeves and getting my hands dirty but it will be great for everyone else if they can integrate this into it.

Ok, I just flashed GB last night and I really like some of the improvements. I do have a few questions.

1. I read somewhere that the Superuser app had to be updated. Is that for this rom or a different one?

2. Can I uninstall SetCPU since there is a feature to OC already on the rom?

3. Is this like CM6 where I can just flash the new releases over the old without having to do a full wipe EVERY TIME?

4. I haven't been keeping up with the changes to each release like I would have liked. Can someone tell me what isn't working so I don't get frustrated when trying to use a certain function? Sometimes I forget that I'm using a buggy rom if I've been on it for a few days and then a bug randomly pops up.

Thanks in advance for anyone's help.

That is for the App itself. go to the market and find SU and download it, you can uninstall it, but I would leave incase you need it down the road, as long as it is not check marked set on boot then it is not being used, Yes you can flash the new releases over them, what you do is Boot into recovery first, then Wipe Cache and Davlik , then flash the updated Rom and then reboot again, but if for any reasons you start having issues a full wipe may be needed, remember everyone one phone is different so what works for you may not work for me What Works, best place to see what has been updated is the Changelog

Please forgive my laziness, but I have not kept up with the xda thread all weekend. The last I saw, there was a second release on 2/18. This release fixed the gps issues that some people were having. I also saw that some thought it broke a few things. I saw the CRT animation stopped working for some and some people could not receive text messages. To save me 25 pages, could someone let new know where these issues stand and if anything else came up as a problem over the last three days.

I really appreciate it. Thanks in advance

Wipe your battery stats;)

Haha. Lots of battery drain questions lately. :D

Actually, this raises a quick question that I have. If I wipe battery stats for a ROM and then calibrate, Nandroid, and flash to a different ROM, then some time later restore my original Nandroid from above, are the battery stats preserved? I guess what I mean is, can I calibrate battery stats on each ROM independently and have those stats restored in their respective Nandroids? I am assuming yes because the stats are part of whatever is restored in the Nandroid and are not global for all ROMs, but I figured I would ask anyway. :)

Is it me or the latest update file is bigger? On the 16th update i had 98 mb of free space, in the 18th i have 72.I just flashed it over after wiping davik cashe.

I tried every combination of superuser, SU, super user, permission, etc. Could not find what looked to be the correct app in the market. When I open SU, it says it is up to date, it is v2.3.6, with v2.3.1-ef binary. Is that the most recent build?
Thanks!

UPDATE omg... beat me now... sorry.. just realized there was indeed a "what doesn't work post" AND IT WAS MENTIONED ABOVE MY POST... Don... any chance you can remove your intial post and replace it with the link to the what doesn't work section?

You can bust out the stupid stick on me if this has been asked and I missed it... the "what doesn't work" post that Don made and hasn't updated since December... this is NOT the most recent update right? Camera and all that now work with this release?

Is there an up to date "What doesn't work" post or is this release now considered stable?

I've been wanting to update because I've noticed glitchy things with my version... Just now I got a text and a phone call both at the same time and my phone didn't know what to do... so it reboot

Firstly, thanks DonB for talking me through the rooting process.

I have just rooted my phone to Gingerbread, and I just LOVE it. I was able to set up the gmail accounts easily, so I have two separate gmail "labels" on my phone, each one for a different gmail account. I still cannot get the message count to show up on my notification bar, however, but that's not the reason for this post.
I am trying to do the same thing for my yahoo accounts (I have two of them). Yes, I can download the yahoo widget/app and that puts yahoo pretty much live on my phone - but I'm not looking for that. I'm looking for the shortcuts, like Gmail, so I can click on them and it takes me to a brief list of emails etc. I don't want to have full access to yahoo on my phone, but just the shortcuts.

When I try to set it up, this is what I do:
1) put a shortcut to the Email icon on my screen and name it.
2) When I try to configure it, I put my yahoo user name (xxx at yahoo.com) in and password
3) the message that comes up is "Mailbox access is not supported for some times of yahoo mail accounts" etc. I click on OK
4) it tells me setup could not finish as there is an incorrect username or password. I am 10000% certain I enter the correct name and password.
5) if I try a different yahoo email account, I get the same error message, plus (530 Access Denied: need SMTP privileges to access this server).

I used to have yahoo email shortcuts on my phone before I rooted - and they were great. I had two icons, and the message count showed up in my notification bar. When I rooted first (to I guess AOSP 9.9.2, before gingerbread), I could get the yahoo mail icons to work, no problem. I was not able to add an account in the "accounts and sync" - that only offers me "google" or "corporate" (which I guess is exchange). It's only with gingerbread i am having this problem.

I am VERY basic when it comes to using the phone, so if anyone responds, please pretend I'm about four years old, so please explain in basic language what I need to do. Anything complicated, and I might not follow (sorry). Still a newbie.

Thank you everyone.
